5 Days of God's Gift Giving

Matthew 2:1-9 KJV
(1) Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the
days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the
east to Jerusalem,
(2) Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we
have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
(3) When Herod the king had heard these things, he was
troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
(4) And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of
the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should
be born.
(5) And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is
written by the prophet,
(6) And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least
among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a
Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
(7) Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men,
enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
(8) And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search
diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring
me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
(9) When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the
star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came
and stood over where the young child was.
Understanding the land of the East or the Orient, not necessarily
meaning China, but it is noted an archaeologist, who found
around the wall of china one ancient village archaeological dig
being an ancient tradition of the current village to be of the Jewish
origin of making of leaven bread. How far the Jewish people
travel and intermingled with other tribes is uncertain, yet tradition
dated back to the Jews. However the land of east spoken of in
scripture hear is probably of the Midianites an ancient tribe with
one of the old living priest at the time of Abraham name
Melchizedek. Who Balaam and Gideon would both influence for
God through Balaam prophesy spoken about in last lesson and
Gideon speaking of a rock establish that separated religious
order from Israel that worshipped God. Gideon had set a stone
with the laws of God for the Moabites to use to follow God and
thus began a Moabite priesthood for God, never meaning to
separate them from worshipping in Israel. Yet giving the ability to
worship among their people. Yet in their culture both false and
true prophets would arise, some even killing their children. The
wise men of east were probably astrologers because they seen
this huge star in the East a symbol of a new born king and
followed it to where the child was born. No doubt knowing the
prophecy of a king being born in Judah that would be a great
power.
By tradition these wise men came to visit the palace where the
star they were following had stopped. Herod had no new born in
his home and so he had to check things out, so he called the
Jewish scribes up and ask where the prophesy of a king would
be born. Of course the prophesy was in Bethlehem. The king had
to know who this new king was and ask the wise to go and
search for the child, asking when did the star appear. At this
point the king might not of decided on killing the child, but perhaps
so. The king however despite lack of information told the wise
men he wish to worship also and to diligent search for the new
king. If they happen to find him to send word to him. This had
now alerted the ruling class to the fact a new king was in the
world. The world the Caesar Augusta in Rome had already sent a
decree to tax.
God’s gift of confusion to a people of not necessarily his
worshippers, to a people that were also not of the Jewish people
to alert them of opposition being born. God wanted those in
opposition to know His authority was coming, His authority was
fixing to be demonstrated through not only the birth of His Son but
through the cross and resurrection. Satan uses a serpent first to
deceive Eve. Using a costume long before God disguise himself
in a fire to Moses, a cloud to Israel or a donkey to Balaam. God
using things of nature in a form that was not being destroyed, to
using a human form that was destructible to prove to Satan, and
to people that worship false gods that He was indestructible
force to be reckon with whether human or spirit. Using a form
they would understand, speaking in a language they understood.
God needs not Satan tactics to prove himself, but considering the
earth is a medium of displaying forces at work in lives of
humans, with God’s force being greater. God gave certain power
to Satan and allowed certain allusions to occur. Yet God needs
no allusions, but uses things we might or might not understand to
grab our attention. A birth of king only meant a new ruler was
coming. A change was occurring. In tradition of culture wise men
from another land would of paid the same homage, that even
Abraham had paid their ruling class. They followed the sign and
tradition of the prophesy of a star. God gift of confusion comes
with following of the tradition of man. They had to trust the
leading of a star that God gave to find the new born king and not
ancestors tradition. Remember God is not author of confusion,
but author of peace, but God does use the enemy tactics to
spread His word.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of confusion of the
enemy to spread the Gospel of Jesus. The Message that Jesus
was born, a king and religious leader that still lives today not just
in our hearts but in heaven. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
