The Holy Spirit
Part Twelve: The Holy Spirit

To be filled or to be continually filled one must continue in faith. What I mean is they must continue
following Christ. Getting the word in them as will as songs and hymns. Allowing God to fill a person
with His presents.

Acts 4:25-31 KJV
(25)  Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people
imagine vain things?
(26)  The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and
against his Christ.
(27)  For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius
Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
(28)  For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
(29)  And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness
they may speak thy word,
(30)  By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of
thy holy child Jesus.
(31)  And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

The disciples Peter and John had just gotten out of jail and had been forbidden to preach the gospel.
They had gone back to the group of disciples to share all God had done and to pray. They told how
God gave them boldness to speak and how Christ had given them the ability to heal and other
wonders. After sharing there story they prayed and the Holy Spirit came upon them with all
boldness. Boldness to speak the gospel of Jesus. Again the earth was shaken like in Acts 2 and then
they were filled with the Holy Spirit. They were filled with boldness to speak the gospel of Jesus. So
we need to ask for boldness, the ability God gives. It is not in our ability but in God's ability. It is not
about speaking boldly about work or a school project. but to speak boldly about the things of God. It
is so easy to be fearful to speak about God, because we are afraid what others might say. But we
must speak boldly with all truth about Jesus in the ability God grants us to share. It is so hard to
share at times we get quiet and instead of speaking up we grow silent for we do not trust in Jesus to
spread the gospel.  When God indwells our hearts we speak of our love for Him as well as His love
for us. We speak hymns and songs, we may even testify.

Ephesians 5:19-20 KJV
(19)  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in
your heart to the Lord;
(20)  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ;

Colossians 3:15-17 KJV
(15)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and
be ye thankful.
(16)  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17)  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God and the Father by him.

Also be filled with: take a look at this next verse.

Ephesians 5:18-19 KJV
(18)  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
(19)  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in
your heart to the Lord;

Being filled in this verse is contrasted with drunk with wine. Meaning not to be filled with worldly
desires and lust, but to be filled with the things of God, to be filled with the fullness of His love.

I will continue next week talking about the fullness of God. To be filled with the fullness of God.
This was a short lesson, but it is much to think on.
