Can You Reach God
Lesson Nineteen: by turtle

Can you reach God as been the theme of this weekly Bible study. We can only reach God because
God reached down to us, first instilling the value of faith in Him through men and women like
Abraham, through Moses giving us the laws of God that speak about what is separating us from God
and then also by sending a new covenant to us which is through belief in Christ Jesus, which we are
sealed by the Holy Spirit upon belief. Christ came to redeem the sinner. To bring man back to
Himself. When we have a right standing with Christ we also have fellowship with other brothers and
sisters in faith. Fellowship with Christ is meant to be enjoy with other brothers and sisters in faith.
However it does not take away that one on one time with Jesus or that personal walk. However we
are to continue in love for our brother’s and sisters in Christ.

Hebrews 13:1-4 KJV
(1)  Let brotherly love continue.
(2)  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
(3)  Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as
being yourselves also in the body.
(4)  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will
judge.

At the time of Hebrews was written time was probably just as bad has it is now in one sense. For
worldly people seldom change just our technology changes. Scriptures says to entertain strangers. To
entertain means to show hospitality or kindness to strangers. Does it mean you let everyone that
knocks into your home. No it does not mean this. However I do believe we are to show discernment.
Everything we do prayer should be involved. However you do not know if you help a stranger you
might just be helping an angel. We are not to judge a person by outward appearance. For someone
with gold and jewels might be the devil.

James 2:1-6 KJV
(1)  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of
persons.
(2)  For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come
in also a poor man in vile raiment;
(3)  And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a
good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
(4)  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
(5)  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and
heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
(6)  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment
seats?

Do not judge immorality God will judge it. However marriage is sacred. If marriage is sacred, keep
strangers or people you know out of your marriage that would try and destroy it.

Matthew 19:4-6 KJV
(4)  And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the
beginning made them male and female,
(5)  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and
they twain shall be one flesh?
(6)  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let
not man put asunder.

Proverbs 5:15-23 KJV
(15)  Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
(16)  Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
(17)  Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
(18)  Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
(19)  Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be
thou ravished always with her love.
(20)  And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a
stranger?
(21)  For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
(22)  His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
(23)  He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

1 Corinthians 7:1-5 KJV
(1)  Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
(2)  Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have
her own husband.
(3)  Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the
husband.
(4)  The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath
not power of his own body, but the wife.
(5)  Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to
fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

As we look at this last chapter in Hebrews it is the close of this letter and Timothy closes it much like
Paul did his letters as well as the other Biblical letter writers after Acts. Timothy instruction is to
fellowship as well as to marriage. Without unity there is no brotherly love. Brotherly love is a term
not depicting to just brother or a sister, but a term of type of love we should have for one another.
Love with compassion no in a sexual way like a man and a woman have for each other in marriage.
The love we have for our brothers and sisters in Christ is different then the way fornicators and
adulterous have for each other.

How hard it is in this day and time not to worry about money. To not worry about the where the
income for this or that or the other comes from. With unemployment and the struggles of bills and
economic changes we see in our world, no wonder people talk about money. Yet God’s word says
not to talk about it.

Hebrews 13:5 KJV
(5)  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for
he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

As Christian I am not to worry about money, however that does not mean I go and spend money on
things that I desire. Instead our conversation should be about the Lord with a praise on our lips.

Colossians 3:15-17 KJV
(15)  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be
ye thankful.
(16)  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17)  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God and the Father by him.

Many people would love to take credit for what God does in a person’s life. However one fails to
realize that God makes the change in people’s life. It is better to obey God then man in all matters.
Giving God the glory for it.

Hebrews 13:6-7 KJV
(6)  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
(7)  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God:
whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Consider those who have rule over you. Who speak the word of God. Remember Christ does not
change. Christ being the word, does not change. He is the same yesterday today and forever. If
anyone brings you another gospel beware. Examine the word of God.

Hebrews 13:8-9 KJV
(8)  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
(9)  Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be
established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

The sacrifice for sin was burnt outside the camp. Christ when He carried His cross went outside the
camp. The blood however was brought into the sanctuary to purify the believer of God in the Old
testament. Yet Christ is within the sanctuary of our hearts and His blood covers us  His atonement
covers us inside and outside the gate. Israel was consider a holy nation to God. And for this reason
sin had to be purged outside the camp. Nothing could be brought in to defile the temple.

Hebrews 13:10-13 KJV
(10)  We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
(11)  For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for
sin, are burned without the camp.
(12)  Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the
gate.
(13)  Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

We are to live as holy people unto the Lord.

Titus 2:11-15 KJV
(11)  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
(12)  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and
godly, in this present world;
(13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour
Jesus Christ;
(14)  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a
peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(15)  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Let us continue in faith bearing our cross and following Jesus with the Hope of a better place to live.
For we do not seek a place built with human hands but one God builds. A kingdom Christ establishes
through faith in Him. A kingdom we long and destine for.

Hebrews 13:13-15 KJV
(13)  Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
(14)  For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
(15)  By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our
lips giving thanks to his name.

Praise God continually in all things. Despite persecution or troubles. However that is learned through
God’s grace. Just read and study the rest of this chapter on your own.

Hebrews 13:16-25 KJV
(16)  But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
(17)  Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as
they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable
for you.
(18)  Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
(19)  But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
(20)  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of
the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
(21)  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in
his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
(22)  And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you
in few words.
(23)  Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see
you.
(24)  Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
(25)  Grace be with you all. Amen. Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.

May God’s love be with all of you, May you endure the rest set before you and pick up your cross
and follow after Christ, because He reach down to you while you were still a sinner. God loves the
world, however he does not love the sin in the world. People need to know God still loves them,
spread the word today.
