Exodus 12:48-49 KJV
(48)  And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will
keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be
circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he
shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised
person shall eat thereof.
(49)  One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the
stranger that sojourneth among you.

The witness to the strangers of God was best known by the
fruit bearing of those coming out of Egypt who seen the
miracles and chose to go with Israel out of the land. Ruth
another convert to God choosing to go with Naomi and be as
one of her people. Leah choosing to follow her husbands
ways, while her sister stole her father’s gods and then died
giving birth to Joseph. Rehab the harlot choosing to believe
Israelites and not her own people. All converts to faith of
Judaism, based on testimony, fear, or witness of the works
of God.

When on chooses from another group of people to follow
God it was choosing to live accordance to the people of
Israel. Israel was also commanded to be tolerant of
strangers for they had been strangers in the land of Canaan
and Egypt. Circumcision however was both physical and
spiritual. To choose to be circumcised was to learn the
customs and religious beliefs of the Israel. To learn about
having a heart for the ways of God. Circumcision done to
male’s was a custom that was for a testimony that they
were of faith in God, that was sign of the covenant between
Abraham and God and all that followed and were of His
household.

To follow God was a first step of faith. To follow in the
footsteps of the tradition of God people living in life and
pattern of God’s people. Laws and traditions of man
established in the wilderness and even before the
wilderness. God teaches and circumcises His people, yet
also uses the witness of man as a testimony of the
circumcision to others. The heart submitting to the ways of
God.

Dear Heavenly Father those that desire to know you and to
follow the ways of you and your Son may they draw close to
your word and the knowledge of your word. In Jesus
precious name, Amen.
