Lesson 16: by turtle

John 6:15-21
15  When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he
departed again into a mountain himself alone.
16  And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
17  And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was
not come to them.
18  And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
19  So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and
drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
20  But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
21  Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they
went.

Jesus perceive that the crowd He just feed wanted to make Him King by force. So He went one
direction and His disciples another. Which seem to distract the crowd for the time being thinking Jesus
was still with them. He later walked across the water. Walking across water is not a normal ability of
man. Either God would have that power or God would give the ability. When disciples seen Christ on
the water it scared them. A furlong is roughly 600ft. Which would make them three to four miles out
when Christ appeared walking on the water.  This story is the same one as when Peter ask if he too
can walk on the water in Matthew 14 starting at verse 25. Though John does not carry the story he
might not of for the reason of who he is writing too.

As soon as the disciples realize who it was walking on the water they received Him willingly. That is the
entire key, “received Him willingly.“ Do you receive Christ when you understand who He is. Do
you recognize him as Lord and Savior? Disciples recognized who He was. They invited Him into the
boat. Do we invite Him into our hearts? Each individual will have to answer this question for
themselves. Christ is waiting for an answer.
