The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Fifty-seven: by turtle
There is a lot of things people want to know about last days, or last times. People seek astrologers, fortunetellers, physic, and other religions other then seeking Christ for the answers. Something are predictable by observation of people. Yet what makes prophecy not prophecy is when something else occurs then what is prophesied. For example Jonah a prophet of God, however Nineveh was not destroyed, yet God promise for repentance is not for that nation to be destroyed. See God promises to all people, if they repent they will not be destroyed. Jeremiah is another example, though he had to face the mire in the dungeon, God saved him from the wrath of Babylon, the king however faced seeing his children killed, right before he lost his eyes. King unrepentant heart caused is own destruction. King unwillingness to obey the voice of God and surround to those of Babylon caused his own discomfort. False prophet with odds of 10 to 4 can predict who going to win a war, but the battle is never the physics to predict, if they had made wages on Goliath and David they would of lost. God wants to do the impossible in our life. However we must obey Him.
Today’s lesson really is not about false prophets, or godly prophets. However if you want to be on the winning side, you have to be ready. Bride of Christ or the Bride to be so to speak is the church, and the church of God is to all that believe in His Son. Many fail to understand He will return for His bride. He will come in a cloud and there will be no mistaking who He is. One of the major prophesies today out is that Christ is on the air waves is what is meant by Christ return, and it is not. In scripture through out all the gospels it declares Christ will come in a cloud for His bride.
Matthew 24:30 KJV (30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matthew 26:64 KJV (64) Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mark 14:62 KJV (62) And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Luke 21:27 KJV (27) And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
John 14:3 KJV (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John’s gospel does not declare how Christ would come, but it does declare He will return. I think it is important to understand Christ is coming back for us. His bride better be ready. In the next chapter in Matthew we will be reading the story of the ten virgins. Ten were wise and ten were foolish. Let us read this.
Matthew 25:1-13 KJV (1) Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. (2) And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. (3) They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: (4) But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. (5) While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. (6) And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. (7) Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. (8) And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. (9) But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. (10) And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. (11) Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. (12) But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. (13) Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
It was old custom for the bridegroom to come and take his Jewish bride at unexpected time or hour. She would wait until the bridegroom had made preparations and then He would come and take her to be his wife. Christ uses the language of the people to explain how and when He would return. He would return when He had prepared a place for them and not before. It kind of like those old westerns where you here occasionally of a man sending for his bride after making all the necessary preparations out west. Yet Christ not only sends for His Bride but He comes Himself for His bride. The bride the church or example the five good virgins must maintain and continue in preparation for the coming of Jesus. The foolish brides assumed they needed not to be prepared. Some would call those that claim to be Christians, but feel they need to do nothing to receive the promise. If we are not saved by works why are we taught the need of works. Works show who are believers. Works keep us in preparation for Christ coming as well as studying the word of God. It keeps us falling pray to the devil. If you are out doing the whatever after getting saved you can not be prepared for His coming. In fact scripture says you are a child of the devil if you are not living for God. That is not scripture exact words, but it is the meaning.
When Christ comes it will be like the days of Noah Noah preached righteousness, but only eight were saved. Why because they believed not about a flood, or even the possibility of a flood. The door was sealed and no one could enter into the ark. When Christ comes for His bride it will be like days of Noah. His bride will be protected and those left behind the door will be shut to them. You have a choice to make. Would you rather take time out to know God now, or to know His wrath later.
Next story is about a master giving to his servants talents(money) to reproduce. With that reproduction would come more blessings.
Matthew 25:14-30 KJV (14) For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. (15) And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. (16) Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. (17) And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. (18) But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. (19) After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. (20) And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. (21) His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (22) He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. (23) His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (24) Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: (25) And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. (26) His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: (27) Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. (28) Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. (29) For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. (30) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Those that wasted their talents were cast into outer darkness where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth. How are you using what God gives you. Are you wasteful with what God has given you? How are you using your talents. How are you using your gifts. Yes we need to keep our wick on our lamp trim and we need to be ready to meet the Lord. God ask each of us did we help the needy, did we help those suffering, did we have it to give.
Matthew 25:31-46 KJV (31) When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (32) And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: (33) And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (35) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? (38) When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? (39) Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? (40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (42) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: (43) I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. (44) Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? (45) Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. (46) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Our works alone will not save us scripture tells us that in James 2.
James 2:13-26 KJV (13) For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. (14) What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? (15) If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, (16) And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? (17) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (19) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (23) And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. (24) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. (25) Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? (26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Faith came first with the ten virgins and keeping themselves pure. Yet faith alone was proven that it did not keep you saved. What about those with death bed confessions of faith are they saved. Do they glorify God even though they can not help someone in the physical sense. Be careful how you yourself judge. You might find yourself on the back in of God’s ruler. And His measuring stick is straight. You do not want to be among those God’s angels divide up that are cast away. God will have mercy on those He will have mercy.
