The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
Lesson Sixty-two: by Christina Farris

It is much easier being on this side of the computer with the knowledge knowing God speaks truth to the heart. However when it comes to examining
prophesy, one has to be careful when claiming this passage is related to this and that. As I stated before that not all is in agreement with other scholars
necessarily. I have a bunch of commentaries I use and it surprises me that some scholars do not list certain prophesy. And I wonder what happened that
caused them not to list or take note of them, were they in a hurry or what. Then I wonder was it controversial? It might of been I have no clue to say one
way or the other. However I will continue doing what I am doing the way I felt lead to do them by God. However I do research on my own and will
continue to do it. It is up to every individual to study and do research of God’s word so they know it in their heart to be true. Not just the teachers duty.

The prophesy surrounding Judas let us first recap Judas story in Mathew 26.

Matthew 26:14-16 KJV
(14)  Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
(15)  And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
(16)  And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Matthew 26:21-25 KJV
(21)  And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
(22)  And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
(23)  And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
(24)  The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not
been born.
(25)  Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

The book of John prophesy about Judas at the time of the Lord supper after Judas as departed.

John 13:18 KJV
(18)  I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against
me.

The Betrayal:

Matthew 26:47-49 KJV
(47)  And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of
the people.
(48)  Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
(49)  And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Now Prophesy that Bible scholars agree on.

Zechariah 11:12-13 KJV
(12)  And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
(13)  And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them
to the potter in the house of the LORD.

Now to the next chapter in Matthew:

Matthew 27:1-5 KJV
(1)  When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
(2)  And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
(3)  Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and elders,
(4)  Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
(5)  And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

John 17:12 KJV
(12)  While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition;
that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Psalms 41:9 KJV
(9)  Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Psalms 109:6-19 KJV
(6)  Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
(7)  When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
(8)  Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
(9)  Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
(10)  Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
(11)  Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
(12)  Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
(13)  Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
(14)  Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
(15)  Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
(16)  Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
(17)  As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
(18)  As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
(19)  Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

Now what about the Priest response to Judas’ giving back of the silver? Was they being harsh, no because their hands were dirty as well for sending Jesus
to the slaughter and would not be able to keep blood money themselves. In fact the would buy a potter’s field. A field representing redemption as in
Jeremiah, speaking of the restoration of gentiles. This passage is not mention by other scholars, it is my opinion that this is the scripture in Jeremiah spoken
about in Matthew.

Matthew 27:6-10 KJV
(6)  And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
(7)  And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
(8)  Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
(9)  Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued,
whom they of the children of Israel did value;
(10)  And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

Jeremiah 32:43-44 KJV
(43)  And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
(44)  Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about
Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their
captivity to return, saith the LORD.

Now I want to back track to the first two verse in Matthew, however I wanted first to take care of the Son of perdition, Judas, who betrayed innocent
blood and sought redemption only to fine none much like Cain. Judas tried as he might to seek forgiveness he is refused by the Priest. An there is a few
verse that deals with this though not directly necessarily speaking of Judas himself. Judas being the Son of perdition there was no hope for him. He fulfilled
God’s word. What if he had not hung himself would he been forgiven by Christ through not by the Priest, perhaps. That is one topic that is often debated
and when one kills themselves it no guarantee they are in heaven and no guarantee that they are not. What we can understand is that God knows the heart
and attentions of man, He knew Judas heart. One act of wanting to repay a wrong does not mean his whole life, just one error. We either see our whole life
and repent for all our sin, or we repent for just a few things. If not sorry for all is it true repentance, of course not. Christ died for all sin not just one or two
sins in your life.

Jeremiah 6:30 KJV
(30)  Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.

Now back to the Priest in Matthew when Jesus is lead to Pontius Pilate

Matthew 27:1-2 KJV
(1)  When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
(2)  And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Jeremiah 11:19 KJV
(19)  But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree
with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

This is important to understand that Jesus would be lead to His death before the government.

Isaiah 53:6-8 KJV
(6)  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(7)  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is
dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
(8)  He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression
of my people was he stricken.

Let us continue in Matthew 27.

Matthew 27:11-14 KJV
(11)  And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
(12)  And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
(13)  Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
(14)  And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

The above passage speaks will enough of prophesy of Christ not opening his mouth in defense of Himself. Why did not Christ try and argue, because what
was taking place was prophesy and He would die for the nation. I have chosen not to speak alot this lesson, but allow scripture to speak for itself. What I
hope is that examination of these passage will help you understand the prophesy and events surrounding the crucifixion. This road is a long one and though it
only took a few days, the prophesies themselves are quite humbling. Christ being lead to the slaughter like the Jews would lead their sacrificial lamb to the
priest for their sins. It hard to imagine someone not fighting to keep from dying but it was the will of God. Nothing changes these events, without it our sins
would never be forgiven when we repented. For Christ death on the cross would be payment for sin. This was the hope of David, Moses, Abraham and
more. They understood the Messiah coming would take away the sins of the world. After this there would be no more sacrifice for sin.
