| Why Miracles Happen? |
| Lesson Fourteen: by turtle Mark 8:1-9 KJV (1) In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them, (2) I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat: (3) And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far. (4) And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? (5) And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. (6) And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. (7) And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. (8) So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. (9) And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away. This story of a miracle is interesting. Thought it is like the feeding of the five thousand, this is a story of only four thousand being feed. Yet when the story starts off you will see many have been with Jesus and He had not feed them, nor anyone else for that matter. They were at a point of fainting. That is when Jesus performed a miracle with what they had to work with. They had seven loaves and a few fish. He broke and gave it to the people. Some might ask why not feed them before they grew faint. Why not help them before weakness. I think there is appoint we has Christian can gain from this story. Something we can gain and learn from. Often we are hungry for the word of God in our life. We are about half starved. We reach a point where if God does not lift us up, we will crumble. Sometimes we must reach the point of the end of the rope for God to work the miracle in our life. We may be with Jesus in faith, we may be there seeking the word, but are empty. It happens to many pew sitters. Until God comes and does a work in the life of a believer they are often starving. We must be feed by God. God must feed us. Our own hurts and pain brings us to the bottom of the rumble heap and only God can lift us up. I seldom fill my vehicle up with today’s gas prices. I have sometimes hope for gas to hold til the first of the month. Sometimes has Christians we are only getting half full instead of filled up. This means our tank is on empty because of lack of the word in our life. Until we get to a place of almost total destruction, we can not be lifted up. Being restored and overflowing only can be done by the Holy Spirit in a believers life. We must have our tank full and running over to be able to stay true and faithful to God. ‘Without the Holy Spirit refilling us we are not able to run the race effectively. Jesus is our supplier just like he was for the four thousand. The four thousand had to wait three days. Sometimes we must wait upon the Lord to renew our strength in Him. Be patient if you are at a time of weakness, or lack of spiritual growth, God wants to do a work in you. |
