Why Miracles Happen?
Lesson Nineteen: by turtle

Mark 10:46-52 KJV
(46)  And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples
and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
highway side begging.
(47)  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and
say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
(48)  And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more
a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
(49)  And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the
blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
(50)  And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
(51)  And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto
thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
(52)  And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And
immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

The name and claim would love to claim this scripture has there own, I do not
doubt. Every born again believer needs to read this account of healing. Then they
need to sit back and reexamine all the lesson on Why Miracles Happen. Why
because if you do not and then come to this passage you could really land up in
trouble. This healing took place for a reason just like all others have. It was to
teach a lesson. The lesson is probably the most easy to grasp. That we must
receive the gift of healing in our life in order to have it.

It seems here in my own life the word receive is so important. Without receiving a
gift from a friend you do not obtain it. If I am going to claim a gift then I must
expect to get it. That is called faith. But how God choose to give us that gift is up
to Him.

Blind Bartimaeus started hollering when he heard who was near. Yet he was just a
blind man whom everyone wanted to shut up. Yet Christ heard the man. Heard
him and responded. He made it clear that all Bartimaeus needed was to receive the
gift of sight was to accept it. His faith was already intact.

Often our faith is intact. People have a hard time seeing it because of our down
cast attitudes and our negativity about life. They fail to see someone hurting and
in need. Instead they wish to shut them up. Knock them down a few more feet.  As
I watch the political race I often wonder what caused a certain preacher to recant
something he said. Or did he really recant but went about explain what he meant
because others took him out of context. I doubt if the world will ever really know.

The Blind Bartimaeus was needing healing. Some tried to stop him. Some wanted
to ruin his chance of meeting Jesus. How many times as Christians do we shove
someone down. We do not realize we are not allowing a person to be all that they
can be in Christ. We sometimes do not give them opportunity to meet Jesus
because of our own actions.

Are you holding someone back in your family from knowing Christ. Are you
holding back people that need to know Christ. It is hard for people to receive the
miracle gift of salvation if we do not tell them. They can not receive the miracle
gift of the Holy Spirit either if they do not know. Christ makes it clear we must
receive the gifts He gives. But we must remember that not all healings are instant,
but salvation is.
