| Women in the Bible |
| Lesson Forty-one: by turtle30c The last ten lessons have been about the Lord promising children to woman who could not have children. We looked at Elizabeth, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Sarah. Yet these woman are just the beginning of those who would seek the Lord for a child or be promised a child from the Lord. We know the conception of a child is one of the most natural gifts God gives most woman. Yet we know not all woman are able to conceive a baby easily. Not all the time does God grant women children even with prayer. Yet, I can not think of a time in Biblical history God did not grant that prayer request. And maybe the reason why is God promised Israel that their woman would not be childless as long as they obeyed Him. Deuteronomy 7:13-14 KJV (13) And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. (14) Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. Did that law somehow change after Christ came. No but for those who are barren maybe this verse will cheer you a little. Isaiah 54:1 KJV (1) Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Galatians 4:26-28 KJV (26) But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. (27) For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. (28) Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. My understanding of these two verses actually has nothing to do with physical birth but spiritual birth. To be spiritual born we can reproduce children physically. We only help in the production of children spiritually. What I mean is God always gives the increase. Paul and Apollos had this problem in the church. 1 Corinthians 3:4-11 KJV (4) For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? (5) Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? (6) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. (7) So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. (8) Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. (9) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. (10) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. (11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Paul was upset people wanted to be baptized by Apollos and Him. Thinking that they were some type of god. God is the only God. Father, Son and Holy Ghost make up the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:9-15 KJV (9) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (11) In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: (12) Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (14) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (15) And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. In Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The Triune God is all in Christ. Some people struggle with this. Colossians 2:2 KJV (2) That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; God in this verse in Greek for Theos the same word in Hebrew for Elohim. Meaning God. God is Spirit. God is love. In verse 2 of Colossians 2 we see every part of the trinity. We know the Jesus and the Father are one and that if you seen Jesus you have seen the Father. We know that Jesus is the word of God. Meaning He is the word that became flesh according to John 1:14. John 1:14 KJV (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Jesus is the only begotten of the Father, He is the only one that is the word of God and was God and is God. For Jesus does not change. Hebrews 13:8 KJV (8) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. John 1:1 KJV (1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. God the Father calls Jesus God. Hebrews 1:8 KJV (8) But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. The scepter of righteousness is faith. We know that any that call on the name of Jesus will be saved. Acts 2:21 KJV (21) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:8-9 KJV (8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. We have to not only believe but one must say Jesus is Lord. To believe is by faith. Faith is two parts belief and action. Back to I Corinthians 3. There is no other foundation we can build on. You can not build on turtle, or your pastor. You must build on Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:11-14 KJV (11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible Because no matter what man might think, you can not build on anyone but Jesus. It been over twenty years when God showed me these particular verses. And every time I read it I want to shout. For many a ministers think they are God and soon find themselves not. People often talk to ministers for counseling and a listening ear, but these ministers are human and are prone to human error. Jesus will always be there for you even when you minister is long gone. Accept Jesus today, He will enable you and strengthen you. You will produce fruit, but it will be fruit of the godly nature. Love, Joy, peace, etc. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV (22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. The fact is this type of fruit you do not need the law, only evil need to know they break the law. The is design so we know what sin is. God knows we are not humanly perfect, but we become perfect through Him spiritually. Meaning we are saved when we accept Jesus Christ as Lord. And God no longer sees the sin but see Jesus that cleanse us from sin. We are not Christ but we are created in his image, still prone to human hazards because we are human. And for this reason we need the law to know that we are not God. Next week we are going to look at Rebecca’s story. How Isaac prayed for her to conceive. How He sought the Lord because she was barren. To begin the story though we got to find out Rebecca became Isaac wife. We will look at Rebecca life and see if the outcome was worth her decision to marry Isaac. |
