The Testimony of Believers
|
Lesson Fifteen: by turtle
Scholars often disagree with facts when information seems missing. However sometimes they base things on what they find or what had been handed down. The first verse is believed to be an issue of historical recorder, but there seems to be a record in the Galilean area called Golan in the northern part of Galilee. Herod might of felt he was taking care of some business by slaying those in the temple. And so those that were slaughters blood was mixed with the sacrifice. This verse is a reference to this time period. However what Christ was speaking about had to do with whether those that died were saved or not. See those in the slaughter might have been saved and others might not of been saved. Eternity is not based on who your ancestors were. Jewish people thought because they were Jewish, son’s of Abraham that they were saved, with not comment to actually, necessarily having faith in God. Read this part of the passage.
Luke 13:1-5 (1) There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. (2) And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? (3) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (4) Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? (5) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Now many that loose family in war, hardship, weather, wonder is this because their love was not saved. No of course not or maybe. See our soul is not determined by good works, but by faith in God and in His Son. Faith and belief in what God told us. Believe that the promise of the Savior came and we are to glorify his death, and resurrection. We are to worship God.
Philippians 3:3-4 (3) For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. (4) Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
Christ is constantly warning us that salvation is not by our own means. Yet people tend to want to know what they can do to save themselves. Yet he tells them to repent. To repent is to turn from sin. It is act all I can do, but without faith this has no value, except to make you a morale person
Luke 13:6-9 (6) He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. (7) Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? (8) And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: (9) And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Sometimes a little tender care goes a long way, or a little manure around the trunk of the tree gives growth to a tree that has the ability to bear fruit. I am not sure why but trees need fertilizer in the form of manure to help it grow and produce. It is easy to maintain a tree but not easy to get it to produce. Yet a tree force to take medicine or force to take manure can reproduce. The tree is force to do what comes natural and this is to produce fruit of love, joy, patience, faith, and so forth. People of the world are like the manure to a Christian, needed to produce and continue to produce fruit for harvest. However they can not produce with out a people of the world as well as brother and sister around. What do you have to love if no one is around you. Think about don’t be caught in a box with nothing inside it. Christ lives in our heart and sups with us, so we commune with Him and express our love to Him. Yet it more then that, we need to produce. So if you feel like you walking in a cowpie, remember produce some fruit and watch the manure change for the glory of God.
Joy comes with truth and like the manure around the tree, one has to ask was the Rulter of the synagogue like manure around Christ. After all it made the crowd cheer when Christ healed and rebuked the Pharisees.
Luke 13:10-17 (10) And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. (11) And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. (12) And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. (13) And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (14) And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. (15) The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? (16) And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? (17) And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
A woman healed on the Sabbath, yet the Rulers of the Synagogue had an issue with the miracle Jesus performed. Yet Jesus turned the issue on the Rulers of the Synagogue, of which if they had ox that fell in a hole would not help it up on the Sabbath. Also does not all go and get their animals water. Yet though this is work on the Sabbath, what was more important the healing of this woman or water the animals. And with this the crowd cheered.
Then Jesus began to talk about the kingdom of God.
Luke 13:18-22 (18) Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? (19) It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. (20) And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? (21) It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. (22) And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
God kingdom grows like a mustard seed, it starts with a little faith and begins to grow, It grows tell it give a place to rest for birds. It is also like yeast in dough. It has to work through the bread before it can grow. God’s word is like that. The message of the kingdom, the message of repentance, and the message of hypocrisy must be worked through all in order for one to grow and produce. It takes the fertilizer to produce.
Luke 13:23-30 (23) Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, (24) Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. (25) When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: (26) Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. (27) But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. (28) There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. (29) And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. (30) And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
The door to heaven will one day we shut, it will be like the time of Noah. If you are planning to enter heaven you need to enter the straight gate. The word straight meaning foundation or base. Meaning you have to start from the basic to enter the kingdom of heaven. Learn about God and believing in God and receiving the word of God in the flesh, and continual believing in God.
However it is more then that. Christ is the gate. It as always been about believing God and in God’s word, and so with Christ being the Word of God that became flesh and was also the Spirit of prophesy being fulfilled, it is belief in Christ that saves a man, woman, boy and child. We do need to repent upon belief and we need to confess, both action of the mouth and heart. There will those claiming to know God and do not. They had the works part right but no love for God and Jesus and denial of the Holy Spirit. God’s people will come from the for corners of the earth. And the rest will beg to enter into but will not be allowed, only to find themselves in the eternal lake of fire. Pray if you lack faith God will increase it. And believe until salvation. Don’t be the last one in. Christ message is for you. People receive Christ because of the truth of His words.
