| Lesson 79: The Law of The Old That is Covered in the New Testament: Servant Of Sin/God 4/11/2014 by turtle30c John 8:30-40 KJV (30) As he spake these words, many believed on him. (31) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; (32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (33) They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? (34) Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. (35) And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. (36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (37) I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. (38) I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. (39) They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. (40) But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Who’s servant are you? Do you allow the enemy to be thief in your life without you know it. These people claiming to be Abraham’s children had allowed Satan to adopt them without them even knowing it. The enemy had crept into their ranks, unaware that certain things they believed was of the devil. The truth has always meant freedom, though it sometimes cost you to tell the truth, even friends and family. It can cost you more then you bargained for. The Israelites in this passage desire to kill Jesus because he called them a bond servant though they be free. They were God’s chosen people, but they were also chose to sin, chose not to serve God, though they were seated in the temple treasury listening to Jesus teach. How often are pews in our church sit with those serving not God on Sunday morning, much less the rest of the week. Our minds on not of the things of God, but on the ball game after church, or what one has to do the following week, or the latest fashion. These things seem trivial, everyone’s mind wanders at some point. Yet if our mind is wondering how we can twist God’s word to suit ourselves, destroying the church, destroying God and destroying the ways of God, then that is the devil. These people conversing with Jesus desire not to change to the truth, but to continue in lies and hypocrisy. What then can we say, if truth sets us free and lies are the ways of the devil, then are we that abide in lies living for the devil, only if you do what the devil says and not God. The simple point is this God is mocked, and Jesus was not mocked either, He makes it clear the truth of the situation, that they desired to kill him, and for that they were not Abraham’s children but of the devil. They desire to kill and destroy Him, because they were messing up their teachings as well as there lifestyle. Are you serving God today or the devil, are you desiring to kill to get rid of the truth? Are you desiring to steal truth and make it a lie to suit your own purpose? Are you willing not to recognize the truth we all serve sin, but we do not all serve God. Truth is truth, we have two father’s which child do you want to be. A child of God or a child of Satan, choose were you stand, a seeker of truth or lies and selfish gain. Do not allow the devil to steal anymore from you, do not seek to destroy His work or power. Dear Heavenly Father help us to seek truth and not the lies of the devil for selfish wrongful gain. We become nothing but thieves when we trade the truth for a lie. Enable us to seek you and your truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
