Can You Reach God
Lesson Two: by turtle30c

A need for a Savior is something not all faiths agree on. Some believe that works will save. And yet no where in scripture is
this true Old/New Testament. Faith has always been a key to man’s righteousness with God. However it is only by grace that
any of us do not perish. Noah’s story is probably one of the most noted stories that was a physical deliverance and sign of God’
s grace. However Christ coming to save us from our sins is far greater demonstration of his love. Let us first look at Hebrews
chapter one and work our way back to Noah. One must remember Noah was just a man and Jesus was God’s only begotten
Son. Most would agree Hebrews one and Noah really seem like a hard link. However through the ages God rose up prophets
and leaders to demonstrate and to preach His love, yet Christ was the only one to be consider blameless. He is given a seat in
the Heavenlies far greater then any angel(meaning minister or angelic being). No other man received the honor before/after
Christ. Yet we know one day we all reign with Him on His thrown.

Hebrews 1:3-5 KJV
(3)  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his
power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
(4)  Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
(5)  For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to
him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Now compare this passage in Luke.

Luke 20:33-38 KJV
(33)  Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
(34)  And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
(35)  But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are
given in marriage:
(36)  Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the
resurrection.
(37)  Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the
God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
(38)  For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

Now that you read both passage, some of you might be wondering so what does this have to do with the other. These verse in
Luke has to do with the resurrection of dead and who’s wife someone will be. However Christ does not explain here that the
believers of the resurrection are the bride of Christ. If we are the bride of Christ then we are not Jesus. We are not the Son and
never can hold this title in the since of birthright. Yet in Galatians four we can see we are called sons by adoption. Though
adoptive children are treated as equals to Christ in the since of being a joint heir and even call God Abba Father, we still are not
equal to Christ.

Galatians 4:1-8 KJV
(1)  Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
(2)  But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
(3)  Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
(4)  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
(5)  To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
(6)  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
(7)  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
(8)  Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

Now scripture also speaks of God’s children reigning with Him.

Revelation 20:4-6 KJV
(4)  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image,
neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
(5)  But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
(6)  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Take note who will be priest in God’s kingdom and will reign after the first resurrection those who are beheaded. Now take
note, no one wants to think of someone being beheaded unless you are King Henry the VIII. However those that are partakers
of Christ suffering will reign with Him. However those who are partakers of Christ suffering are also called brethren.

Hebrews 2:9-11 KJV
(9)  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour;
that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
(10)  For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the
captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
(11)  For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them
brethren,

Point that I am making we are called sons, bride, servant, priest, brethren and more but never Christ. However many people
might be savior in the way Moses was for his people when he lead them from the wilderness through obedience to God. Noah
was obedience to God by building the ark and only eight people were saved in the flood to obedience.

1 Peter 3:20 KJV
(20)  Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a
preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

God’s saints have attributes of Christ but are never Christ. In fact to set a man other then Jesus up to be a god is sinful. For
Christ is the only one that could save a person from sin. Meaning a physical and spiritual death and being risen physically and
spiritually. Now let us look at the original passage again.

Hebrews 1:3-5 KJV
(3)  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his
power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
(4)  Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
(5)  For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to
him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Not at anytime did God tell any man beside Jesus to sit beside Him. Jesus being the only begotten Son of God and the only
begotten of the dead.

Revelation 1:5-7 KJV
(5)  And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the
earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
(6)  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
(7)  Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth
shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Jesus is the first begotten of the dead, but yet He is a prince to kings. How can this be. He is born the house of David. Born to
the household of the kings family.

Luke 20:41-44 KJV
(41)  And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
(42)  And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
(43)  Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
(44)  David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

Matthew 1:1 KJV
(1)  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Matthew 1:20-21 KJV
(20)  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou
son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
(21)  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Luke 2:4 KJV
(4)  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called
Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

Jesus is both son of David by human birth. Being born into a family of David, though He be the Only begotten of the Son.
Why then was Jesus needed. If God can communicate with people without Jesus why then is it necessary for Christ? God
spoke to Noah to build an ark. Spoke to Abraham to go to the promise land, and spoke to Moses to lead the nation of Israel
back to the promise land. Best to go back to the ark and even before the ark, sin itself separated us from God.

Romans 5:13-14 KJV
(13)  (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
(14)  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's
transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

The time of the law did not come until Moses. However one has to stop for a moment, and realize man did sin after Adam.
Cain sinned, and he was sent away though he was marked. Marked so no one would harm him. Yet he killed his brother, a
crime in all parts of the world punishable by death. Yet God marked Cain and sent him out of is sight, because any and all sin
is punishable by spiritual and physical death by God. Including disobedience in the garden. Adam and Eve would not have face
death if they had not sinned against God.

Romans 1:18-20 KJV
(18)  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in
unrighteousness;
(19)  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
(20)  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are
made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Man from the dawn of time knew not to sin. Yet man still sinned. God was patient up until Genesis 6.

Genesis 6:5 KJV
(5)  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually.

Noah was not a perfect man, but he found grace in God’s eyes. For Noah was a righteous man in his generation.

Genesis 6:8-9 KJV
(8)  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
(9)  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Meaning he was pure for his generation, yet he was not perfect in the eyes of the Lord, but still found grace in the eyes of the
Lord. God would destroy the whole earth because of sin.

Genesis 6:11-13 KJV
(11)  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
(12)  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
(13)  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and,
behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Not one generation since the time of Noah has been perfect. Every man, women and child sins.

Romans 3:23-26 KJV
(23)  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
(24)  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
(25)  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of
sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
(26)  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

We would be justified from sin upon belief in Jesus. Man would continue to sin even with the law. No man could live up to it.
With this in mind. God grace abounds. However God still speaks to man concerning salvation.

1 Corinthians 2:12 KJV
(12)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are
freely given to us of God.

God speaks to man so we can know those things freely given to us by Him. Christ became the atonement for our sins. As we
continue with our study, it will not be in the next lesson, but we are going to get their dealing with the sacrificial law in
relationship to Christ. What we discovered so Far is God reaches down to man, not at anytime has man reached up to God
meaning they can not reach God on their own. God must enable communication with His creation. Yet with God enabling He
also provides a gift of salvation through belief in Jesus. Who is atonement for our sins. Sin being what separated us from God
in the first place. God comes after man in a since to say I love you and you are my creation. However we still have a choice
whether to accept Him as our Heavenly Father or not. For we must have both the Father and the Son.

2 John 1:9-10 KJV
(9)  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
he hath both the Father and the Son.
(10)  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
