| Lesson 22: The Law Of The Old That Is Covered In the New Testament: Confession Of Sin 2/13/2014 by turtle Leviticus 20:10 KJV (10) And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. 2 Samuel 12:13-14 KJV (13) And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. (14) Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. If the law of adultery meant that a person would die for their sin, why was not David killed for his sin of adultery. This would give occasion for the enemy to blaspheme the name of the Lord, because of this condition in the law. Did confession change the punishment of sin, only in certain cases. God seems to be less concern with those who make confession of sin though it does not mean the righteous go unpunished. David would loose innocent lamb as well as a rebellious son for his sin of adultery with Bathesheba. God would purge the product of sin from David as well as take the son that lived in sin. Yet David was punished, he was not executed for his sin, but death would come to David as it does to all mankind that sinned starting with Adam. Man would not be David judge, but God was. There was sin that was forgiven by confession and sin that was confessed that still faced immediate punishment. Enoch walked with God and never faced death for God took him. If one can ever grasp the weight of sin, they would work harder not to sin. If they ever grasp the punishment Christ took on the cross for our sins, one would do their best not to allow temptation to be a temptation. They would bridle the whole body and never almost sin. How does one know what one can get away with, the simple point is if we are under the law of sin and death, then there is no sin that is not punished. If we are above the law of sin and death, one will be punished by God and not necessarily man. Moses had another wife, did he commit adultery in accordance to the law of divorce. Yet he was punished for this sin, because he would die in his sin when he reached the border of the promise land. Image running a race only to not run through the ribbon at the finish line though you be the first one to reach the line. You can not cross the line, because you stumbled alone the way. Where is the hope if death means punishment for sin. Our hope comes through the resurrection of Christ Jesus who had victory over the grave. Who rose up in victory. Our hope found and resting on the promise of Christ paying our sin debt and us rising with Christ into eternal hope to be with God. However there is a condition with that hope one has to believe who Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God. The Only one that can take away the sin of mankind. If the word of God is not buried one becomes complacent to the Word of God and if it buried then our hearts burn upon hearing the Word of God. The Word of God bring us to repentance the need for a merciful God, and a need for a Savior. God calls us to turn away from sin, to turn away and turn to His Word. Turn to His promise of redemption. Unless the written law of God is enforced the only judge is God the Father. Jesus says to all that believe I stand in the gap between you and my Father. The further we go from God the further God’s word goes from our life. The more we ignore it the word of God becomes buried with our sin, but hope springs anew with repentance of eternal life with Jesus. If knowledge that unless the law is enforced, mercy comes from those who are aware of the sin, but God’s punishment will still come. Repent ye sinners and turn to lively hope found in Christ Jesus, so you can cross the line into the promise land. Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the lively hope found in Christ Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
