Matthew 4:5-7 KJV
(5)  Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth
him on a pinnacle of the temple,
(6)  And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself
down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning
thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time
thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(7)  Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt
the Lord thy God.

The recorded account in Luke has the third attack from Satan as
the one concerning Temptation and third one in Matthew as the
same as Luke second attack. The order makes little difference
in looking at how to defeat Satan attacks with the Word of God.
Jesus had the ability to crush Satan, yet instead at this time
Jesus still rebukes Satan in the same fashion we ought too when
going against the enemy and false teachings of God. God is
persistent, man seldom is, and if one knows the Word you know
how to deal with the spiritual enemy of darkness.

One thing to know is your God given right before the temptation
comes. Jesus had power that was rightfully His at the right hand
of God because He was the Only Begotten Son of God. Jesus
had power and everything was under Him already, Yet Satan
takes Jesus to a high part of the temple and says if you be the
Son of God cast thyself down: for it is written. He shall give his
angels charge concerning thee: and their hands they shall bear
thee up. Lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. He
telling Jesus to jump to take His life, not to worry about it angels
will catch you. The angels will not allow you to be hurt. Jesus
while in human form if He had jumped would of died. What is the
big deal for Christ already had a seat beside God the Father.
This one act if done would cost Jesus His seat beside God the
Father. Yet Jesus would give His life to the hands of those who
sinned against Him spiritually. To give your life is not suicide, it is
giving your life or laying down one’s life at the hand of those who
desire you dead because of who you are, which is the
opposition of your attackers.

Where does a believer draw the line on abuse, after all murder
is crime, and so is stealing. You have authority over sin of
criminal action. Jesus had the authority but chose not to take it
against those that would crucify Him. Instead it was if you want
me dead I am going to allow it as part of God’s eternal spiritual
purpose. Yet Satan in this passage was about  having Jesus lay
down His life for his purpose by his design. Suicide is attack of
the enemy. He desires you to take your life instead of giving it.
Jesus reply to Satan attack is thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy
God which is Old Testament command dating back to the time
of Moses. When the people grumbled it was about testing God
to provide for them. So Satan attack was about whether or not
God would provide for Jesus if He died before proper time of
His death. It would be like me saying I have one life to live I will
jump from an airplane without a shoot and if I do not die then it is
God’s will I live. Or pulling the trigger on a gun and saying if I live
then it God’s will, not caring the state you be in and the suffering
of others you will cause. Jesus came to die but not to commit
suicide. We are all are hear to eventually die of your human flesh
to exchange it for incorruptible body. Yes it is true God is not
going to let nothing happen to you that is not for a purpose, but
why tempt God or test God by doing act of death.

Moses was telling the people when he told them not to tempt
God to do something awful, because they sought his life due to
the fact there was no water. Yet God had promised that Moses
would see the promise land, that he would take them their if they
would trust God. God would provide if they would only trust.
Jesus had a journey to the cross. A place where He would take
away the sins of the world with his death and bring life anew
with His resurrection. To do so prematurely would be testing
whether God power still had that ability. Satan thought He had
the power to order Jesus’ death, but this power was not His.
The time was already set by God of when Jesus would die for
our sins. He would be breaking the will of God if He jumped. No
we can not preplan our life, but give it to God and allow His will
to unfold in our life. To allow correction to come and the
disasters to fall according to His will and purpose in our life.
There is many storms that come and go in life, but God is
always there, even when you feel alone. You make a choice to
stand or to fall. There many blessing in life so one better enjoy
them, it is a part of the journey. Your time will come as
preplanned by God.

Dear Heavenly Father as Christ taught let us not tempt you
concerning our life but lay it in your hands, that your will be done.
In Jesus precious name, Amen.
