| Lesson 70: The Law of The Old Testament That Is Covered In The New Testament: Going Back To Work 4/2/2014 by turtle30c Mark 16:1-14 KJV (1) And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. (2) And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. (3) And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? (4) And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. (5) And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. (6) And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. (7) But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. (8) And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid. (9) Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. (10) And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. (11) And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. (12) After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. (13) And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. (14) Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. I am alive was Jesus claim to those He appeared too. Yet some would claim that it was a frenzy of events that caused people to believe He was risen, yet scripture declares in I Corinthians there was over 500 witnesses to the fact Jesus was alive. Where is the line drawn of psychological mumbo jumbo and reality. Until Jesus is real to you, you will never believe He is alive and walked on this earth after His death in incorruptible flesh among the disciples. What convinced so many to believe is probably much like the account of Thomas, which he desired to see the nail scarred hands. No doubt Jesus spent much time showing the nail prints as well as the wound in his side, so those that seen Him could believe. Yet for Mary Magdalene, it would not take much to convince her, because she had been delivered from seven demons before Christ death. Interesting thing to note is on the third day, Jesus rose up only to go back to work. He died to Friday, setting the captives free, buried before sunset, rest all day on Saturday, and up from the tomb He arose with victory. Yet, He became even more busy then before telling people He was alive, and giving proof to those that needed it. Jesus kept the Sabbath even into death and resurrection. Is this enough for us to keep the Sabbath on Saturday, no it is not. For God’ s work begins in the house of God and expands the globe to the heathens. No greater joy to rest on Saturday and begin in God’s house a day of work on Sunday. Saturday use to be a day of homework, and relaxation. Yet with busy schedules it seldom this. What are you doing on the Sabbath are you working for the Lord among His people first and then out in the highways and byways of life? Consider if you not why not? Consider is tradition so important that you continue in your pew in congregation of the Lord, or do you rise up to help those in worship and leadership, in whatever gift God gives you to share His love with others? Dear Heavenly Father may Sunday the day of your resurrection be more then pew sitting, but helping in your work. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
