John 8:30-59 KJV
(30) As he spake these words, many believed on him.
(31) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
(32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free.
(33) They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were
never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made
free?
(34) Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
(35) And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the
Son abideth ever.
(36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed.
(37) I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me,
because my word hath no place in you.
(38) I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do
that which ye have seen with your father.
(39) They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would
do the works of Abraham.
(40) But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the
truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
(41) Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We
be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
(42) Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would
love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came
I of myself, but he sent me.
(43) Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye
cannot hear my word.
(44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father
ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not
in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a
lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
(45) And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
(46) Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth,
why do ye not believe me?
(47) He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear
them not, because ye are not of God.
(48) Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not
well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
(49) Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father,
and ye do dishonour me.
(50) And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh
and judgeth.
(51) Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he
shall never see death.
(52) Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a
devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a
man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
(53) Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead?
and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
(54) Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it
is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God:
(55) Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should
say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him,
and keep his saying.
(56) Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it,
and was glad.
(57) Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old,
and hast thou seen Abraham?
(58) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before
Abraham was, I am.
(59) Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid
himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of
them, and so passed by.
Whose your daddy? We all are born in the flesh, having a mother
and father if we walk this earth. There some that might try and
argue this point. Yet even Christ had earthly parents. Superman
was said to be born on another planet called Krypton. Okay
Superman a fictional character that came out in comic books and
later in cartoons, a sitcom, and movies, has nothing to do with
reality. Yet superman had earthly parents. But not biological
earthly parents. Though superman is fictions he was not of our
world. God was and is part of our world. I got on the subject
yesterday did God create Himself, and my answer might surprise
you He created His Word, His Word being off branch of Himself,
and totally equal to Him and part of Him. His Word has a
beginning and end. It is a part of God that had origins before the
birth of Christ in the flesh, and yet was began anew through
Christ. God word begins anew in the life of each of us that choose
to follow and obey. Superheroes of TV land only begin with the
imagination of their creator and dies with their creator unless the
torch is taken up. Christ began and the torch is still shinning for in
the heart of all that believe. The torch that lives for ever in each
that believe.
I keep thinking someone going to be mad at me for comparing a
comic strip to Jesus, but in reality no one obeyed superman,
everyone just wanted someone to save them when thief came. No
one hollered or look for superman unless thief came, except for
those that followed his story. Lois lane and little want to be
reporter, yet they were always hunting their friend Clark Kent. We
all hunt Jesus when we need a super hero but we seldom hunt
Jesus to be a daily friend, teacher and instructor in our lives.
Those that follow Jesus and believed Jesus were constantly in a
spiritual battle for their soul.
The battle being not one of earthly nature but a spiritual nature.
The question came who child are you. Who is your father? Is your
father the devil or God? Yet the response was Abraham was their
father, conditioning of faith. A conditioning of following the
examples of man verse the instruction of God. Abraham a
righteous man of faith but not a righteous man in all of his deeds.
We often put the super heroes of the Bible in the category of
being righteous but not seeing their faults, only seeing their faith.
Yet these people walked after their own fleshly nature as well as
after God. Abraham follow his wife instruction taking his hand
maid to be his wife with the desire results of offspring, but not the
legitimate kind under the laws he lived by. Hagar, Sarah maid was
a servant required to do the bidding of her mistress. Not a free
woman but one in bondage to Abraham. Yet even this child would
bare many children of Abraham. Jews claimed they were
Abraham legitimate offspring, not one born into slavery. They
understood not they were born into a world of sin, because had
chosen them to be His offspring. Chosen them to be a people with
a heart toward God. Yet they could not live in accordance to His
ways, making them less a child of God but a child of Satan. When
we walk in disobedience to God, we are walking in obedience to
Satan. When superman would be present Lois lane would watch
Him, when out of his sight she needed Clark Kent. When we have
God commands in front of us we have no need to look right or
left, when they are not before us we look in many direction at the
world around us. With Christ has Savior we have the word of God
written in the heart by the Holy Spirit. Jews had God before them,
and His commands of God before them, but they were never
looking in the right direction to the Word of God. God sent Jesus
to us we could not avoid but see the cross and suffering and pain
to bring us the truth of the laws of God. Has long as Jews in the
wilderness had a miracle or sign from God before them the reality
of God was their. Yet they desired a king of earthly nature and
not one that was leading them in victory across the desert.
How it is with our human nature we choose something we see
verse what we can not see. No one but a child believes in
superman. Many adults feel that way about God. They choose
what they can see, even accepting laws not of God in their life for
convenience sake and to keep peace. God’s laws are about
spiritual warfare. Warfare that goes often against the human laws
of society and demands a high law from God. All are required to
obey the laws of this world, but few grasp they too need to follow
the laws of God. Yet even our fore fathers were not in obedience
to God.
What does this mean to not be legitimate heir to God but joint heir
by spiritual birth. Spiritual birth comes by faith, given to all that
believe no matter their race, their ancestry, nationality or sex. It is
against the laws of Satan, yet it supercedes any of man’s rules,
because it is the law of love and respect for your fellow man,
despite what they do to you. No one lives perfect under the power
of God because of our freedom of choice to yield and not yield to
temptation. Yet God gave us the power to overcome temptation
through belief in His Son Jesus Christ through the power of the
Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that instructed Moses in the
wilderness, enabled David to lead an army against terrorism,
including the killing of Goliath and enable Abraham to discover the
promise land that was owned by someone else. Abraham did not
covet the land given, in fact he gave the choice piece to Lot, who
seen the grass looked greener on one side then the other, only to
find wickedness of sin in the city surrounding him.
It not who we are born into, it is the choice we ourselves make,
even if our parents are good people by law, they still must choose
obedience to God’s ways too, just like we do. Abraham had faith,
yet he was not always right. Neither are you, but God still loved
Him, that He promised to send a redeemer for him and his people,
people of many tribes and cultures around the world, today. That
redeemers name is Jesus, the word of God given, the Son of God
the perfect example for you and me to be over comers of the sin
of this world by the grace of God through belief in Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the law of grace to be over
comers to choose our spiritual Father to choose to live for you
despite the laws man establishes. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
