Matthew 22:15-22 KJV
(15) Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might
entangle him in his talk.
(16) And they sent out unto him their disciples with the
Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and
teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man:
for thou regardest not the person of men.
(17) Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give
tribute unto Caesar, or not?
(18) But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt
ye me, ye hypocrites?
(19) Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a
penny.
(20) And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and
superscription?
(21) They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them,
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and
unto God the things that are God's.
(22) When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left
him, and went their way.
What do you teach, what do you believe and practice? Ministers
of faith no matter who they stand before when teaching about the
word of God must speak the truth of scripture, no matter the pain,
no matter what will occur one must be consistent. Jesus was
consistent in all He taught concerning the law. The Pharisees sent
out their followers with several of Herods people. People of the
law so to speak with the question is it lawful to pay taxes. Jesus
said who subscription is on the money and they said Caesar.
I want to stop there for a moment and talk about our money in
America. If you take a one dollar bill or at least the old money not
sure what they new looks like right now, without one in front of me
and flip it over on the back you will see several icons and symbols
on it. Each symbol represents different groups of people. If they
take in God we trust off our money they are removing the sacred
symbol of those that believe in God off the money. Money is no
longer givable to God because God not on the money. Of course
many will say you are way off base, after all you give to God
what you give to God. Yet it is one area the political people that
follow not God can entrap religious people about the issue of
money.
After all Jesus asked who subscription or picture is on the money,
and Jesus said give to Caesar what is Caesar. In other words
pay your taxes. Let me give example of how symbols on the
money work. Most know Masonic has a symbol on our nation’s
money. Masonry represent more then one working group of
people. Yet in God we trust only represent religious groups of
people, and of course atheist in general what to remove religious
people symbol, not realizing their symbol is there just forever not
seen. Why because they have no belief. Our laws of our land are
divided by separation of church and state. Meaning church is
under our government. There separation of what God’s laws are
verses governmental law. Many Christians are living under
governmental rule, instead of God’s law. More and more people
living not under the influence of God’s law, but under the influence
of state and federal and local laws. The other night I seen on the
news a list of laws that were not to be broken concerning
stealing. Jesus taught not to steal, not to take what is rightfully
the government. He spoke to give it take responsibility of doing
the right thing. Yet most organizations not just churches feel the
need to be tax exempt and paying little in taxes if any especially if
they are non profit. Money given to be used to maintaining
organization headquarters as well as group projects are often
taxed exempted. There much to these laws when big groups have
to start paying their part.
There is a point to message this morning, Jesus was consistent in
what he taught, are we as consistent in our churches for speaking
truth of what we allow and do not allow. Do we give what we say
we give to those in need as will as those not in need. I doubt
seriously anyone does everything they teach or preach, though
they supposedly try. Our inconsistency are hurting the church
world, but our consistency is endorsing who child we are.
Obeying Christ example and not allowing the devil to entrap is the
battle.
Dear Heavenly Father may we live and teach according to your
word never bending left or right but staying on target. In Jesus
precious name, Amen.
