Lesson 54: The Law Of The Old Testament That Is Covered In The New Testament: Division And Judgment 3/17/2014

Luke 12:51-59 KJV (51) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: (52) For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. (53) The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (54) And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. (55) And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. (56) Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? (57) Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? (58) When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison. (59) I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
Family members separated over the years often enjoy being reunited even if there is some hesitation about seeing someone from the passed. Both have come and gone through different trials, tribulations and joys in life that changes who they are but keeps them yet the same. Jesus said He came to divide not to unite families. Yet it seems in complete contradiction to the truth. I was looking at the one dollar bill and its symbols the other day online and found a site that said during civil war days because of a rise in religious belief the words In God we Trust was added to our coins and in 1957 to our one dollar bill. Now on the one dollar bill you have two pyramids. And in the middle in God we trust one (won). Anyone knowing about war for anything to have two militaries surround them usually what in the middle looses, but with God the impossible occurs God wins. Israel surrounded in the final battle only to win. If God comes between you and your family, God guarantee you God will win the battle.
Jesus goes on to talk about how certain things will come and go, yet some consider it prophetic, yet in truth it is just plain fact of life. Sometimes prophesy is just simple knowledge of history repeating itself just like a scientific experiment. Yet Jesus begins again to speak of judgment of how devil will take you to court, and if he wins you will be required to pay every last dime. One has to ask what did you do in the first place. Yet sometimes to obey God is in contradiction to the ways of God. Jeremiah found himself in a miry pit because the king was not happy with him. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego found themselves in the fiery furnace when they refuse to worship the king. Daniel refused to stop praying and found himself in the lions den. Peter and John in Acts found themselves in prison because of healing by the power of God and the story they shared of Jesus, only to be told not to preach and their response was it better to serve God then man.. Each servant of God paying the price only to find victory with each battle. Each judgment and punishment comes, but God’s grace is sufficient for each need. God’s grace is about victory of faith and often it comes with a price that will one day be forgotten.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your judgment and mercy, but also knowledge of the victory even when it looks to the world we have lost. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
