Exodus 19:1-9 KJV
(1)  In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone
forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the
wilderness of Sinai.
(2)  For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to
the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there
Israel camped before the mount.
(3)  And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto
him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house
of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
(4)  Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare
you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
(5)  Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all
people: for all the earth is mine:
(6)  And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy
nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel.
(7)  And Moses came and called for the elders of the people,
and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD
commanded him.
(8)  And all the people answered together, and said, All that the
LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of
the people unto the LORD.
(9)  And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a
thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee,
and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the
people unto the LORD.

In order to obey God you must believe in Him. From the
beginning man disobedience has caused separation from God.
No believed in God from birth, for even John the baptist filled
with the Holy Spirit before he was born, still asked if Jesus was
the Messiah, even after seeing the Holy Spirit comes like a dove
descending on Jesus. Why because God said He was the Son of
God. We all are children of God and with that note one has to
ask why did God not say He is your Messiah, because even with
God speaking no one believed because their hearts were
harden. Even Peter who knew who Christ was denied Him. Now
let go back to the original first statement “in order to obey God
you must believe in Him” otherwise you are obeying what seems
right in your own eyes. God is clear his people will obey His
commands.

Most parents will agree that if their children will not obey them,
then those children though born to them are not children they
respect. God created us with a choice but within that choice
came the responsibility to obey and to follow His instruction. He
told Adam you can eat from any tree but the one in the middle.
The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Yet Adam could not
keep God’s commandment because he listened to His wife. Oh
what a dangerous ground when man obeys their wife? No it
because he did not obey God first and foremost. Ahab listened
to his wife Jezebel, only to loose the war. Are you obeying the
prophets and preachers because they tell you the things of God
and you feel these things are right, or are you following the Spirit
of God, who is not only a comforter in times of trouble, but took
the time to write the laws of God on your own heart. Are you
trying to second guess who your spiritual leader is by saying
your minister is right. Saying you have to get saved at the altar
and can not get saved anywhere else. It not the physical altar it
is spiritual altar. When Israel heard the law and repent at any
time God would restore them to faith, they would repent
because they knew they had not follow God but the traditions of
man. Man’s traditions are only evil if they become more
important then what God tells you to do. Traditions are meant to
remind you to have faith.

This being the point to obey God is to love God, to do traditions
is to be only a reminder of those things of God. Traditions should
never be first thing or priories as first to enter into heaven.
Abraham believe God and obeyed God in that order. Many obey
God only to later learn to believe God in the since of loving
others. One also has to love God. Yet if all you can do is love
others then that is the beginning of at least being civil with your
fellowman. Yet God said to obey is to be His child. To believe is
faith, faith gets you eternity, heaven or eternal lake of fire.

God answers is obedience to Him, but to obey Him one first had
to believe. Because one can not honor Him, or obey Him. After
all there things we do that is natural to human instinct it call
human conditioning or psychological mumble jumbo of
experimentation of what feels better to individual. Yet to believe
in God and to obey him is better then what the devil ever did. For
the devil believes and trembles.

Where is the line drawn? Simple obedience, and yet no one
believes God perfectly that why we needed saving and God is
the only one that can save us from a lake of fire. He had a plan
through Jesus Christ our Lord. God promised mercy, justice and
grace if we followed Him. Are you following the ways of God,
taught by the prophets, taught by the Messiah, taught by the
Holy Spirit? If not are you God’s child? Are you in rebellion
against God because of circumstances that come in your life.
Yes, the effects of what others do effect how you respond. How
you respond to others difficulty in obeying God often effects your
ability to obey God. It should not, but we are human. We see the
side effects of obedience and disobedience. Yet God promised
Israel if people would believe and obey they to would be His
children but the promise first came to Israel, no it came first to
Adam and Eve. Even Cain and Lamech in Genesis 4 new the
price of disobedience. Are you making light of the word of God.
How you respond effect others.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to be in submission to your word
and Spirit and help us with any unbelief we might have. In Jesus
precious name, Amen.
