Matthew 23:16-22 KJV
(16)  Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall
swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by
the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
(17)  Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the
temple that sanctifieth the gold?
(18)  And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but
whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
(19)  Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar
that sanctifieth the gift?
(20)  Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and
by all things thereon.
(21)  And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by
him that dwelleth therein.
(22)  And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of
God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

To swear by money, is to owe, an oath of promise to repay, an
oath to guarantee repayment of some sort. To swear to take the
things of God or God’s name in vain is not a plead necessarily to
God, but a use of God in vain. How many children when learning
about God falsely use praying, not knowing that the conditions they
laid out for their prayer was a form of swearing even in a plead to
God. For example promising God they would never bad again if
God would heal their mother, father or baby sibling, not knowing
that in truth this was not only a impossible on their part, but not a
reason God would answer. When we pray in the name of Jesus it
is a form of a request to God that it be according to His will,
through the power of His Word. It be in His ability, not because of
our ability to perform our oath or our swearing.

Swearing by God or the throne or altar makes you guilty of sin, for
God said do not do this. Jesus said do not swear. Yet it is not
enough to know this it must be instilled in our hearts by the Holy
Spirit. Do not let your plead to God be done in vain with empty
words. Let it not be done with no heart or soul of the request. God
is not pleased with this.

Dear Heavenly Father help us not to use your name loosely or
things of yours, but let make all request by your word, according to
your will. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
