| Lesson 48: The Law Of The Old That Is Covered In The New Testament: The Witnesses Of Truth 3/11/2014 by turtle John 8:13-20 KJV (13) The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. (14) Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. (15) Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. (16) And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. (17) It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. (18) I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. (19) Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. (20) These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. To talk about Oaths one can not ignore the the witness of truth. Truth being what truly matters in any given situation. What makes a promise to God it needs to be true. One testifies before the courts it needs to be true. Things being established between two or more people as truth. The law of a witness was not always in favor of a person, because false witnesses could come forth and actually cause someone to be put to death. When the crucifixion is talked about no one ever asked who were these false witnesses that spoke against Christ. They are over looked. No one speaks of their guilt. Yet Christ was teaching about witnessing in the enter woman’ s court, at the treasury a place where the money was thrown in and given. A place of common worship of the Jewish people. A place the women generally did not go past but to give a sacrifice. Jesus taught where not just men could hear but the women. The woman would want to know about truth, because if any of them caught would be brought to court without more then a witness of their husband and God. Jesus taught before a group that all might benefit by what was said and yet the only witness hear seems to be the Pharisees. They wanted to know why believe Him after all he needed a witness. In truth a witness had to be established. A witness of whether what Jesus said was true. And Jesus said His witness was God. Most would agree God’s witness whole little weight among men unless God orally speaks up. God has to make a declaration of some kind. More then one person would have to hear it. In the church world today the Holy Spirit speaks to the people, and what God speaks to the heart can and should be confirmed by more then one witness. Jesus also declares his own testimony is true. His own witness and witness of God is what would prove what He said was true or not. In Christ resurrection Jesus is defended by the earthquake on the day of his death as well as an eclipse of the sun and the holy people of old rising up out of the grave. Establishment of truth by proof by God. Yet it was more then that Jesus going into the city during the passover the voice of God is heard by the Greeks as thunder (this story found in John 12). There were two groups that heard the voice of God the Greeks and John the Baptist. Two groups of people with the testimony Jews and the Gentiles. Yet it is still not enough to establish what Jesus said was true. Yet He spoke of the law within the temple of how truth was established. Why because the Pharisees and the people there would of understood the establishment of truth. To witness is often not enough even if you bear truth, facts have to back truth. What Jesus spoke was backed by the law of the Old Testament. Pharisees could not argue this and could not lay hold of Jesus for what He taught was backed by what they taught themselves. No man could touch Jesus at this time. If you speak the truth by proof of what is truth no one can debate against you, but if what is not established truth one can debate or argue against you. What is truth? Truth is something that must be established by some form of truth or established truth including witnesses that are considered to be truthful. One’s own witness can not be established as truth unless a history of truth. Dear Heavenly Father let truth be established by what you speak or taught was truth and what Christ taught as truth, in Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
