Women in the Bible
Lesson Twenty-four: by turtle30c

Ahab demise took place in chapter 22 of I Kings in 897 B.C.. However one must continue to go
over a few years in history to find out what happens to Jezebel. God really gave Jezebel time to
come to repentance but she never did. She died in 884 B.C., which is about 13 year later then
Ahab. Now this study is about women but there are still certain things we can understand about
the relationship men/women have with God and the choice they make concerning their
relationship with God. Jezebel had no respect of God and chose to worship Baal even after all
the prophets of Baal were destroyed.

Remember two lessons ago Ahab was prophesied about how he and Jezebel would die. Yet
Ahab repented and God spared Ahab destruction of his family in his life time.

Let’s reexamine the prophecy of Jezebel.

1 Kings 21:23-24 KJV
(23)  And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of
Jezreel.
(24)  Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall
the fowls of the air eat.

Now what actually did happen to Jezebel some 13 years later.

2 Kings 9:29-37 KJV
(29)  And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.
(30)  And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and
tired her head, and looked out at a window.
(31)  And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?
(32)  And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there
looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
(33)  And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was
sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
(34)  And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman,
and bury her: for she is a king's daughter.
(35)  And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and
the palms of her hands.
(36)  Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD,
which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat
the flesh of Jezebel:
(37)  And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of
Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.

Prophecy of Jezebel came to pass. What a way to die and what a way to be remembered in the
Bible. Often people have this idea God revenge is unjust. One must remember what Jezebel was
doing. It was not just the worship of Baal. But the fact she killed the Lord’s prophets as well as
did deceitful acts while queen. God’s ways are not unjust. Many people today seem to think
God is unjust. But judgment always comes to those who choose to live after their own desires
and live in sin. Now this sounds much like the beginning of a hell fire and brimstone kind of
sermon and it is. But there is hope. See one does not have to choose to do evil in the sight of the
Lord. One does not have to choose to live in sin. It is a choice. And with choices there are
consequences.  If a diabetic choose to ignore his diet and eat all the candy he wants eventually
maybe not right away he is going to land up in a sugar coma. If a person chooses to steal one
can expect to be arrested.  Consequence of doing right and wrong. We all make choices. But
one choice leads to eternity in hell and another choice leads to heaven doors.

When one accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and are born again, they are no longer
condemn to hell. That is a choice. You do not have to go if you do not want to. Jezebel could of
repented. She never did. Ahab repented and the prophecy that was first told skipped him and
went to his son’s generation. Each generation of people have to make their own choice who they
will serve. You can not be born physically into a Christian family because to be born into the
family of God one must be born by spiritual birth. Each person making that choice on their
own to ask Jesus to save them from their sins. Christ died for all our sins, and rose the third
day, but we got to receive the gift of salvation. The way we do that is to call on the name of the
Lord.

Romans 10:9-13 KJV
(9)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation.
(11)  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
(12)  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich
unto all that call upon him.
(13)  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Do you want to receive Jesus as Lord of your life right now and know that your sins are
forgiven. Then just ask Jesus to be Lord of your life and ask Him to forgive you of your sins.

Pray this prayer with all sincerity of your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father, I accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, asking you to forgive me of my
sins and believe that you have forgiven me. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

If you prayed this prayer find you a pastor to talk to and tell him about it. Tell someone about
it. Don’t hide what the Lord has done for you. For He has forgive you of your sins and you will
have eternal life. You will want to learn how to grow in Jesus. And one way is by reading the
word of God and another way is by finding a good church home.
