Women in the Bible
|
Lesson Fifty-One: by turtle
This week we are closing the look at woman in the Bible. Though we got a chance to also see how men were effect by woman and also look at the roles of women and men in the church, and in daily living. And yet how does this effect you. Woman are special, men are special. Yet they both need the Lord. Yes there are lot of woman in the Bible I have yet to mention, yet sometimes as a teacher one realizes sometimes the students have the be the one’s that do research and search things out. There are the women that follow Jesus. One served Him and anointed his feet and his head, Mary of Bethany. Another would follow after Jesus did not condemn her for adultery instead turn the situation on her attackers. There were women in the Bible that had to deal with rape, from both strangers as well as family. The women always being seen in the background yet gaining a voice sometimes when their life were at stake. For example Abigail. And lets not forget Bathsheba one of David’s many other wives. Who obey the king of the land and came when he called. Yet she was married to another. There is also the trader like Delilah. Then you got the one that protected Israelites Rehab. The list goes on and on.
Lois and Eunice who taught Timothy the Bible. Women that help Paul. The women in the upper room. The list goes on and on. And I could continue on women for another year. Yes woman are mentioned in the Bible. Many woman. True they may not generally be listed in genealogy, yet they are very present in scripture. Some relying on God and others following idols. Some women be dictators like Jezebel and others being women of compassion and love. Yet we did not discuss Solomon who had over eight hundred wives at the time of his death. We did not mention Hosea wife Gomer who was a prostitute. Isaiah wife who had children that represented the time of Israel distress and warning concerning exile. And the list goes on.
As I sit and think of all the woman in the Bible how come few speak of them. Without women we would not have offspring. Of course it takes men to produce an offspring as well, but the woman carries the infant for nine months beginning at conception. Women never feel you are not loved by God because you are. And men never think you are God and can treat woman like dogs. For if you are a child of God you know woman are too.
Though this final message on this study has no scripture with it does not mean that God is not mentioned. For through scripture God changed the lives of women as well as men. And we best not forget it. God’s word is what changes the hearts of men and woman. Though little I have said in four paragraphs will change your mind how you view woman. I hope God’s word will. And I hope you will explore the other women in the Bible. Knowing their lives were told too.
