God/Father of Those Who Fear Him.

Lesson Twelve: by turtle
This morning I seem to be concentrating on God's authority. It seems the world outside the Christian and Jewish faith seem to struggle with God's authority to do all that He does. They question why God has authority to judge us. This is probably the question that people seem to ask I can figure why they ask it. Yet through out time authority of any kind is questioned. Today we see police being questioned by criminals. Children question there parents or teachers authority. The church world question leadership authority. And most of all the sinner question's God's authority.
There was a time in society where proper respect was shown to anyone in authority of any kind. People did not necessarily bow down to people in authority but showed respect. People thirty years ago had more respect for God then what they do today. It is much like in the days of Noah were no believed in God except for Noah. Abraham's day was a little different. People respected God and the authority He gave to men. Even those who did not follow God had respect for God. Today our world seems much in chaos with little respect for God. So why should we reverence or respect God. Why should we fear God in the since of reverence for God?
I think one must look to Bible, but before we do, one way to compare God's€™s authority to our human understanding, would be to compare it to a crafter. A crafter makes an object and puts in on display. A friend of the crafter comes by sees it and claims to have done the work on the design him/herself. Yet this person did not make or have any control over the design. Man seems to want to take responsibility for God design. Not giving God proper credit for His creation. An old saying of parents that "out."ave heard is. I brought you into this world I can take you out." This is a parent speaking to a child. Though the comment is in jest, it is speaking of the parents authority over the child. And in some ways taking a little to much authority in this saying, for God is the only one that has authority to bring life in and take life away.
Revelation 4:11 KJV (11) Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
In Revelation around the thrown people are praising God. The angels are praising God. All is praising God. His authority as creator. As designer God has authority. Those that seem to question God authority I do believe do not truly believe in God. It seems the world struggles with believing in God's authorship. As a Christian this is not a problem for us. We see the goodness of God and all that he creates. We see God's ability and not our own. We see Him as author in our life, writing His story in our hearts and minds, that He will be glorified in our lives.
Colombians 1:16-18 KJV (16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (18) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Proverbs 16:4 KJV (4) The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Isaiah 43:21 KJV (21) This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
Romans 11:36 KJV (36) For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
God authority is not so much to take a rod and say look at me I made you, it is more of just asking us to respect Him. Asking us to give Him praise for the things He does for us and not a wooden or stone idol we make. It is about glorifying God and recognizing his authorship. God desires us to know Him as He knows each of us individually. He knows our heart, soul and mind. His intent is not to be a task master.
Matthew 11:28-30 KJV (28) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
When one choose to walk with God, he will find his path is made straight and the task that God desires us to do is not hard.
Psalms 139:3 KJV (3) Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
Psalms 119:105 KJV (105) NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God directions cause us to walk straight because He light and directs our path. Though the world has trouble comprehending this, as a believer I do not doubt that God's authority is one to be honor. We look at God's leadership in the wilderness as God lead the Israelites across the desert. We see God's leadership in David's life and how He raised Him up to be a great king. We see God protection on Daniel in his life in exile. No matter your station in life, God authority recognized in one's life is a wonderful thing. To reverence God and allowing Him to work in the believers life is learning to have a relationship with God.
Take time to examine whether you recognize God's authorship in your life today. Take time to know that God is in control and give Him the praise and honor due Him today.
