God/Father of Those Who Fear Him.
Lesson Seventeen: by turtle

Last week I mentioned that we would be discussing God's will. The more I look into God's
will we must look at the beginning when He first made man. No doubt God wanted to walk
and talk with man. He desire to be our friend not just our Creator. He created a special
place for us in the garden of Eden until the first sin.

Genesis 2:7-9 KJV
(7)  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
(8)  And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man
whom he had formed.
(9)  And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the
sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of
knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:15 KJV
(15)  And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it
and to keep it.

God visited man in the garden

Genesis 3:8 KJV
(8)  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the
day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst
the trees of the garden.

God continue to desire to hae a relationship with man even after punishing man for his sin
of disobedience int he garden.

Genesis 4:1-4 KJV
(1)  And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have
gotten a man from the LORD.
(2)  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a
tiller of the ground.
(3)  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an
offering unto the LORD.
(4)  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the
LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

God warns Cain of sin. Last time man is recorded sinning it got him kicked out of the
garden. Cain would soon learn God does not like sin when he willfully disobeys God. God
did not desire Cain to sin. In fact he warns Him. He does not want Cain to fall.

Genesis 4:6-7 KJV
(6)  And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance
fallen?
(7)  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at
the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Cain refusal to take God's warning not to sin, causes him to sin and brings his removal
from the presence of God to a strange land.

Genesis 4:14-15 KJV
(14)  Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy
face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come
to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
(15)  And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be
taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should
kill him.

God's will for us is not to cause harm to others, but with the price of sin in our life it
brings about judgment. God makes a point through out the Bible of showing us there is a
consequences to our actions. Though to day Christians live by grace, it does not give a
license to sin or live in disobedience. Christ even said “if you love me keep my
commandments.

God desires us to have good in life, yet it does not mean we will not face hardships. For
some reason some groups of Christians think that we will not have to face hardships in this
life. And yet I have never believed this way, I wonder where these people get this
misconception. How can I prove this point. Looking at the lives of those who choose to
follow God still went through hardship. Joseph being sold into slavery by his own
brothers. Story is found in Genesis 37 and continues to the end of Genesis.  His life was
not an easy road, though he was richly blessed in some ways. God did not leave him in is
situation, but help him rise to the top of his position and station in life. Actually rewarding
him greatly by later making him a ruler.

Moses is another example. Though he lead the people in the desert for 40 years, he walked
with God and faced many trials, but learned submission and reliance on God. He learned
God would take care of him, despite his circumstances. God took lemons in Moses life and
made lemonade so to speak.

The widow with no with no oil, God blessed by sending her a prophet, who would eat her
last bite to only gain more to cook with.

Daniel thrown in the lion's pit and yet he did not die.

Each apostle was raised up from different stations in life and yet suffered at those who
would oppose the teaching of Jesus. Their hope being in the future promise of Heaven.

These are all examples of how God’s will to protect and provide for us does not mean
we will not go through discomforts, yet along the way there are many blessing as long as
we are in obedience to God. Each believer that follows and obeys God has the hope and
promise of a everlasting life with Jesus.

I am going to stop here for today, but I want each one to take time and study different
characters who choose to obey God through out their life. Not one of them went without
hardship of some kind, but God was always providing and taking care of their needs
according to His plan for their lives.
