God/Father of Those Who Fear Him.
Lesson Sixteen: by turtle

Last week we looked at God searching our hearts. God seeing man's ways are evil. The
first time he gets upset about the state of man is in Genesis six. The story of the flood.
God is upset because he finds no one believes in Him except for one man named Noah.
God basically tells Noah to build an ark and gives him specifics on how to build it. The
reason He saved Noah was he was the only one that still believed in Him.

Genesis 6:5-9 KJV
(5)  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
(6)  And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at
his heart.
(7)  And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the
earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it
repenteth me that I have made them.
(8)  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
(9)  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generations, and Noah walked with God.

God's salvation is for all those who walk with Him even in the Old testament. Christ was
the fulfillment of the need for a Savior. One who would pay the price of our sins and
draw us to Him. Without the plan of salvation we would die and go to hell.

Before I get to the cross and God salvation plan lets look at ways God continued to save
man in the old testament.

Numbers 21:5-8 KJV
(5)  And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought
us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any
water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
(6)  And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and
much people of Israel died.
(7)  Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken
against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents
from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
(8)  And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole:
and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

God's punished the people for talking against Him, but at the same time He was ready to
forgive. He was willing to make away of escape for the people. The people recognized
God was their only source of salvation. They recognized they did wrong. Those who
would believe in Him would not perish by the serpent bite. Them looking at the pole was
a testimony of faith that they believed in God. It did not mean they worshipped a pole.

It is the same as the action of faith that Abraham had. He got circumcised as a testimony
of his faith. The people looked at the serpent pole as a testimony of faith.

Romans 4:11-12 KJV
(11)  And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith
which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that
believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them
also:
(12)  And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but
who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet
uncircumcised.

When a person looks to Jesus for salvation they are trusting in God's plan of salvation.
The way God made for eternal life for all people.

John 3:14-18 KJV
(14)  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man
be lifted up:
(15)  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
(16)  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(17)  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved.
(18)  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We do however worship Jesus for He is Lord of lords and King of kings. God gave His
Only Begotten Son all authority in heaven and on earth.

Hebrews 2:9 KJV
(9)  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of
death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death
for every man.

1 Corinthians 15:25-28 KJV
(25)  For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
(26)  The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
(27)  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under
him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
(28)  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be
subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

God's salvation is faith in Jesus Christ. We look to God our Father in reverence(fear) for
what He has done for us by sending His Son to die on the cross in our place. We must
remember He did not just die, but He arose again and had victory everlasting.

Salvation to the normal man with God would possibly be protection in war and coming
home, surviving a disaster, or a major wreck. But Christ wants not to be just our
protector in life major events, but through out eternity. Yes often God does provide a
way out in life circumstances when we call upon Him, but it is always according to His
will. Next week I think it might be good to talk about God's will. What is God's will.
Actually this has been talked about before in connection with the Holy Spirit Bible
Study. But I think it be good to look at it from cover to cover stand point. One last
thought on today's lesson. God can not save if you do not believe in Him. If you do not
have faith in Him. God helps those who trust in Him.

Psalms 121:1-8 KJV
(1)  <A Song of degrees.> I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my
help.
(2)  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
(3)  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
(4)  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
(5)  The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
(6)  The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
(7)  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
(8)  The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and
even for evermore.
