4  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

God loves us. No question about it. God love is rich and his mercy is endless. But who is
God, who is Jesus? Let?s begin our lesson in John 1:

John 1:1-5
1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  The same was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Questions

1. What does it mean in the beginning was the Word. Who is the Word?

2. Was it always the same or has things changed?

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.

2  The same was in the beginning with God.

Word was with God and was God in the very first verse. The Word speaking here is of
Christ. God word was Jesus. He was always with the Father since the beginning of time.

John 8:58
58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

John 17:5
5  And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with
thee before the world was.

Christ declares in both verses he been around before Abraham and with Father since the
beginning of time. So the Word which is Christ been since the beginning and is God.
This is very simple.  Christ is more then a Prophet or a teacher He is God. He was from
the very beginning of time.

3. What was made by God?

John 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that
was made.

Genesis 1:1

Psalms 8:3

thou hast ordained;

God created all things from the beginning of time. Christ is God He created. He was the
spoken word.

4. In whom was life and what does that mean?

John 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Life came from God   Christ  was the light of the world. Christ represents the Light of
God. Christ came to draw all men to God. Draw all men to Christ.  This whole passage In
John 1 : 1-5 speaks of Christ.

5. What does not comprehend the light any clue why?

5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Christ came into the world to show God?s love for mankind. Only problem is the world
did not understand. They were not use to recognizing God. The could not see Jesus was
God. World was so intent of doing its on thing and not honoring God that they did not
know Him or recognize him. Do you recognize Christ as Lord? Do you recognize Jesus as
the Son of God. Jesus is the Light of the world. May you soon understand How much
God loves you that He sent His own Son to die for you and me so that we might know
who He is.

God loves each and everyone of us. His love is beyond measure.
