Love Lesson
Love Lesson 21: by turtle

John 8:12-20 KJV
12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13  The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14  Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell
whence I come, and whither I go.
15  Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16  And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17  It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18  I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19  Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father
also.
20  These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

Jesus is the light of the world. This Christmas we celebrate the birth of our Lord. He was the great light God promised us in the old testament in the book
of Isaiah.

Isaiah 9:2
2  The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Jesus came to deliver the people from their sins. Jesus would be a deliverer from sin. Jesus is called the light of the world in John also.

John 1:5
5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

This verse in John actually speaks the truth of this passage where Christ is speaking unto the Jews and the Jews do not understand about the Light Christ
wish to bring to them.

The Jews want to know who bears witness of who He is. We know if a story is told by more then one person it becomes more believable.  Christ
appeared to have no other witness to the Jewish people. They did not grasp that God the Father testified to who He was. God told the Jews people he
was coming. He told of the wonders of Christ birth. The works of Christ alone should of testified who Jesus was.  But even so

The Jews knew not who Christ was. They wish not to believe God like so many people do today.  This Christmas let the joy of the celebration of Christ
birth penetrate our hearts and minds. Let us not pass the Christmas in unbelief who Christ is? Jesus is the Son of God the Savior of the world. He came to
seek and save the lost, to deliver us from our sins. Confess and accept Him now as Lord and Savior. Repent of your sins. If you know Him as Lord but
have fallen away just call on Him and He will forgive you.  He is always ready to forgive. He shows mercy to those who seek mercy.
