Lesson Three: by turtle
John 1:15-28 KJV (15) John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. (16) And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. (17) For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (18) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (19) And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? (20) And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. (21) And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. (22) Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? (23) He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. (24) And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. (25) And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? (26) John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; (27) He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. (28) These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Questions Again John is declare the witness. But who is it that sent him for what purpose and who does he say he is? Who does He say Christ is?
(15) John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. (16) And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. (17) For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (18) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Genesis 1:26-28 KJV (26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Where it says, let us make man in our image , the word us refers to the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Christ was there from the beginning with the Father and Holy Spirit. Here is another verse and is also one of my favorites.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
This is confirming what is already said that Christ was from the beginning of time.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
We all have received God?s grace. But the questions is do we except it. God love has been from the beginning. He loved us because He created us. He could of wipe us all out. But God loved us tand sent His only Begotten Son to die for you and me.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The law of Moses tells us what is sin and what is not sin. Simple fact it proves to us how unholy we really are. But Christ came to fulfil the law by dying for you and I. No one could follow the whole law without sin except for Jesus himself. So he came and lived a sinless life among us. Then He died for all mankind. And on the third day He had victory over death by raising from the grave. Death was our punishment for disobedience to God.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
No man has ever seen God but they have seen His only begotten Son. They have heard the Father speak. They have known Him but have not seen Him.
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? 20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. 21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. 22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? 23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. 24; And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; 27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing
Pharisees wanted to know who John was. They thought he might have been the Christ. But John tells them no he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness?. referring to Elijah.
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
This is the prophecy that John spoke about when speaking to the Pharisees. They want to know why He baptizes then. He replies He baptizes with water, but there is one coming that will be preferred more then John. John declares the one coming he is unworthy to untie even his sandals.; No doubt the Messiah is coming. Very clear of that John was not the Christ, but the simple fact the Messiah was coming. Do you believe the Messiah has come and that one day He will return? Jesus is Lord.
