Are You Standing In Hot Coals?

Lesson Nine: by turtle
This morning has I sit and prepare to type this lesson, I began to think of a few things that have concerned me over the years. How do you know who the anti Christ is? What are some signs to a believer in Christ of who the anti Christ is? It easy to spot some false teachers. That basically what the anti Christ is. The anti Christ is a false teacher. I do not know a minister alive that does not make mistakes behind the pulpit. Yet are they the anti Christ? No some would say poor study habits, or not enough time that week to adequately prepare a sermon. Some people ask why do churches not teach the same doctrine or beliefs. Some understand it one way and others understand something another way. I think Paul explains this best in Ephesians concerning the church, the universal body of believers in Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-15 KJV (11) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Facts is we all are growing as believers. Even those that are learning for years. We might even learn after years of experience that what we learn is not correct in teaching. Yet we always heard it taught that way. How do we know if it is a false teaching we learned or one that we are hearing is false. Well there can be more then one view. Often when one studies the word of God we look at key words. Keywords in a passage might mean something to us that God is speaking to our hearts concerning. The first thing we got to do is take the scripture being given and examine it. Does what we hear line up with what we know in other passages in scripture. Often we build on our learning from God’s word, so if God is speaking to your heart on something, you need to base it on what you previously learned and apply it to what you learning now. Example. A person can apply what one learned in first grade to what one is learning in twelfth grade but can not apply twelfth grade to first grade. Time one reach twelfth grade one should of built on what one learned. God’s word is no different. One builds on knowledge of God the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. With this in mind I want to look at this passage above again. Paul writes Ephesians warning them of the anti Christ and false teachers.
Ephesians 4:14-15 KJV (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
We are not to be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Yet truth is it is very easy to do. One hear something one never heard before and wa la! One assumes it is false. First of all Paul had encounter with Christ. Second Paul was of the Jewish faith as well as a roman citizen. He study Old testament and had knowledge of it. What Paul does is base his knowledge on two things, What the Holy Spirit speaks to His heart concerning and also the knowledge he learned through old Jewish scrolls and what God has given Him concerning who Christ is. Of course he had sat and talked with the apostles no doubt on many occasions concerning Christ and had contact with them. Yet Paul’s commission was from God to the gentiles.
Now knowing that Paul is a key leader in Christianity but not the only leader we need to look at other letters concerning the anti Christ. What did the apostles say concerning doctrines. Peter and John spoke of these things as well. Let’s take a look.
2 Peter 2:1 KJV (1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Peter speaks of false teachers that will bring in damnable heresies. A damnable heresy is one that denies God the Father and His Son. His Son being Jesus the only begotten. No doubt as a believer we are children of God and even sons and daughters of God, but what we are not is Jesus. One can not be the Messiah in the since of salvation from sin. There is only one that can provide salvation for sin and that is God the Father and His way of providing was through the death of his Son and resurrection. Who Is Christ Father? We know Christ Father by Luke 1.
Luke 1:30-35 KJV (30) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (33) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (34) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? (35) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
This is one of those doctrines one must have to stop and think on and think hard on. If you are believe in doctrine of the Trinity one has to stop and think what. So I am slowing down for this one. We know at the baptism of Jesus we see all three, are all three present at Christ conception. I am often utterly amazed at scripture. Look at verse 35 carefully. The Holy Spirit will cover Mary. The power of the Highest, being God on the throne, Elohim meaning more then one, which we understand from other scripture Father Son and Holy Spirit. Christ is the word that became flesh according to John 1:14 and then if you take one more passage of scripture.
1 Corinthians 15:47 KJV (47) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
Now I want to slow down one more pace. Let’s look at Psalms 8
Psalms 110:1 KJV (1) A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Psalms 2:7-8 KJV (7) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (8) Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
I want to stop there and explain the doctrine of the Trinity is Biblical correct, but the problem lies with this the fact the word trinity is not used in scripture. People seem to struggle with this concept. Often one uses bigger words to describe a thought or ideal. This is what the word Trinity does for the believer. Whether you use the word Trinity, the principal is still there. If you read God’s word you see the whole picture.
I made a grammatical error a few years back. I used the word father incorrectly on my site in representing the salvation plan of God. That error was corrected. Yet what occurred was the study of God’s word on the subject of the oneness of God and the names of Jesus. And what I did thought it was not false, it made many to think I was teaching wrong. Let me share a verse with you that helps explain it.
Isaiah 9:6 KJV (6) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The word everlasting Father is used in Isaiah in reference to Christ. A dumb era to say the Father died for you correct, no not really. For Christ is called the everlasting Father. Now a false statement would be if I had said Christ was not the everlasting Father, or the Prince of Peace, or the Son of God. Or equaled myself to the Son of God. No one is equal to God the Son except God the Father and the Holy Spirit. One can not be equal for as humans we are created. The Son of God, The Father Jehovah and the Holy Spirit is on the Throne. God the Son became flesh, a human to die for you and me because of His Father’s love for you and me. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that resides in our hearts when we believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
To know a false teacher is to deny who Triune God is. First of all let me speak with scripture on this point. I John is a good place to start.
1 John 2:18-26 KJV (18) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. (19) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (20) But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. (21) I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. (22) Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. (23) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. (24) Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. (25) And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. (26) These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
To leave the body of Christ as first John is speaking of is not to leave a physical church but the spiritual church. Meaning one denying Christ and denying the Father and the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit teaches us all truth. Without believing in the Holy Spirit then who is teaching you. See I can have a conversation with someone on the Bible, they may show me some things concerning Bible truth, but unless the Holy Spirit reveals it as truth to me, it makes little difference what the person speaks. After believe in God to deny God is blaspheme.
Christ speaks of who the anti Christ is.
Matthew 24:5 KJV (5) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Matthew 24:24-27 KJV (24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (25) Behold, I have told you before. (26) Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. (27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mark 13:6 KJV (6) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mark 13:21-22 KJV (21) And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: (22) For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
First sign of a deceiver in my opinion is this one.
1 John 4:3 KJV (3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7 KJV (7) For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
No one can declare the Jesus is Lord and mean it without the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:3 KJV (3) Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
The anti Christ thinks he is God and he is not. He is given authority to deceive the nations. He is given that ability. The anti Christ is a smooth talker and smooth walker and knows how to deceive and trick people into believing. He is nothing more then a charlatan. Beware these are false prophets. A minister that makes a mistake is not necessarily a false prophet, just one that made a bad error. Yet a liar, a thief, one that does not love, but hates, one that goes about being drunk, living to party, living to be of the world is not of God. Yet most of all a false teacher is one that denies Christ and the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
This is a lot of scripture to learn, but learn it for one reason, it well help you if you ever meet the devil, a deceiver.
