| Lesson 5: The Law Of The Old That Is Covered In the New Testament: What Does It Mean To Serve God Alone 1/27/2014 by turtle Exodus 20:1-7 KJV (1) And God spake all these words, saying, (2) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. (3) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (4) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (5) Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; (6) And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (7) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Satan wants to say God did away with the law, yet there certain decrees Christ taught that had nothing to do with ceremonial cleansing but cleansing of the heart. The Jewish faith of the Old Testament was very much alive throughout history, through traditions of Old Testament. Yet the Christian faith is about the New Covenant God made with man and the doing away with sacrificial law for sin. It did not get rid of certain spiritual laws. Spiritual laws having to do with serving God alone and not serving false gods and goddess. When we serve others are we helping because of our love for God and our desire to serve Him. When we serve God we serve our fellowman so our faith is demonstrated. Yet to serve other gods would mean to serve in other religions and their rituals. To serve people to get something back in a form of serving them for prosperity sake alone. I not talk about working for income to support a family, I speaking of volunteerism and such things that are not for monetary gain necessarily but for nobility or to be part of a clique in society. The generosity of the church world verse the generosity of cliques in society often is hard to define. Yet some groups that are not necessarily of the Christian faith do their good works to be seen by others. The church world though they promote to let people know what they offer they should not be done to say look at me, but to offer the blessing that God has bestow on the church to helping others. It is our duty to help others of not only our faith but those outside but to do it because we love God. I remember hearing a story how a woman served in church for years only to find herself at the age of ninety no longer able to attend church, forgotten by her church. Yet all her activities had been to serve the church because she loved God. Yet God provided people around her because she loved God. She was taken care of at home, but not by the church she served in. How so often our elderly are not remembered. To serve God and only God is to worship Him. To worship all that He is and who He is. To serve Him by helping others, to love Him because He first loved us and gave us the ability to know Him by speaking to us about who He is. That His Word was true and faithful to every generation that would call unto Him, even to the individual in godless societies. God’s promise to provide for those that serve Him is true. Yet it does not mean we never suffer or we never go through hardship, it means God will be there through it all. To have a relationship with God is know the difference between Him speaking to our hearts vs. devil speaking untruth in our life. God does not want us to serve the other agenda which is Satan’s. Satan wants to destroy the kingdom of God, but does not have the power to do so, so he seeking your help by turning you away from God by giving you those things for his purpose. Dear Heavenly Father help us to seek only you and not to follow Satan tactics to keep us from serving you. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com - |
