| Why Miracles Happen? |
| Lesson Seventeen: by turtle Mark 9:14-29 KJV (14) And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them. (15) And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. (16) And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? (17) And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; (18) And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. (19) He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. (20) And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. (21) And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. (22) And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. (23) Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (24) And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (25) When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. (26) And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. (27) But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. (28) And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? (29) And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Strange world we live in sometimes. Jesus begins talking to the scribes and it surprises the people so much that it draws a crowd. Jesus loved the religious leaders as much as he loved anyone else. He took time with them to teach them and to answer their questions as well. A good minister speaks to his whole church not just the religious people. No matter what lifestyle the minister needs to be able to relate to the people in his congregation. Jesus was often setting the example of this very thing. He showed no favoritism to those who ask. A man wanted his son heal. He had ask the disciples to heal his son but they could not. So often we ask for our healing to be done by the minister. The minister can not heal someone. Only Jesus can heal someone. Often we put our hands in our physicians and forget to seek God for healing. I believe in going to the doctor, but one must also remember to go to God first or as soon as possible. I have had healing in my own body of a illness that was not treatable. I had to leave my healing in the Lord’s hand. The scribe was desperate to see his son healed. Yet the question that Jesus asked might surprise us. (19) He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. Jesus begins to address the faith issue. The faith issue is key here. We must have faith in order to see the impossible happen. I do not doubt that the man had taken his son to physicians, though the scripture does not say this. It would of been a requirement of the Jewish faith at that time. This father would of had been at the lowest possible hope when he brought his son to Jesus. So Jesus address the faith issue. It takes believe often times to see the miracles take place. (23) Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (24) And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Often we need the Lord to help in our unbelief to see a miracle take place. We might believe it is possible, but to stretch our faith to the limit of something actually taking place seems impossible. We need to ask the Lord for help in our unbelief. God is wanting to move the mountains in our life. He is wanting to help us with our unbelief at times. Our job is to be honest and open with Jesus. Part of having a relationship with Jesus is being honest. It starts when we confess our sins to Him when we get saved. It continues on as we grow closer to the Lord. To receive more faith was must be tested and tried. We must ask for it. We must be willing to put our faith on the line. It is so hard to do sometimes. Putting our trust in the Lord. We must remember He can do the impossible and will according to His will and purpose for our life. Romans 8:26-28 KJV (26) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. |
