| Consequences Of Sin And Forgiveness: Lesson 16: How Many Times 01/14/2014 by turtle: Matthew 18:21-35 KJV (21) Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? (22) Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (23) Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. (24) And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. (25) But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. (26) The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. (27) Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. (28) But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. (29) And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. (30) And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. (31) So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. (32) Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: (33) Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? (34) And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. (35) So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. How many times do I forgive? How many times do I have to forget? How many times do I have to turn the other cheek? I only have two cheeks, but I am to forgive seventy times seven. I in truth would rather not keep a score card. Those that do are really in trouble. There a difference in forgiving and being stupid. To forgive does not mean correction does not take place. Does not mean you continue to let someone smack you because they desire too. Yet Christ took each strip upon his back, and each nail in his hand. God said in Hebrews there is no more sacrifice for sin. Jesus paid the debt the separates you from me, if you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Separation from God is caused when one choose not to believe Christ saves. Yes none believes God, no not one. No one obeys God, and that why a Savior is needed. That why we need Jesus to look too. Hopefully we will learn to walk in obedience to God. Holy Spirit guides, directs and teaches us all truth if we will follow Him. God had enough of Ahab bad leadership of wanting everything and taking everything that was not his. God destroy Ahab’s kingdom with the prophesy through a lying spirit. Yet one thing we forget is God requested someone to deceive Ahab from his throne and a lying spirit said I will go. God has control over evil and uses it to teach us. See Ahab had stolen Naboth vineyard, by his wife deception. It was a want of Ahab’s not a need. God correction is far greater then our correction. Yet God is willing to forgive more then seventy times seven. Yet He also willing to correct. If God forgives your debt without correction and you forgive and correct beware you going to get it seventy times seven back, okay that not scripture, God says He will not forgive you. See seventy times seven is sort of number to explain the depth of forgiveness we ought to give. Yet sometimes correction has to be given. Yet this man was unable to pay his debt. We are unable to pay our debt to God. If we unable we need to be forgiven of it, but how can we be forgiven if we not willing to do the same. If we not willing to give as God gave us, then why should we be privileged to only receive. To receive we become spoiled brats. To give back or to give to someone else helps us to understand the need to share, to love, to forgive and to help. You can not expect to get if you do not give. God gave, and He expects us to do the same. God makes it clear if we continue to mess up he going to correct us after we receive salvation because we received his gift, no because receiving His gift made us part of his family. When we receive forgiveness we are saying Lord I receive not only your payment for my sins, but your forgiveness and am now willing to obey your instruction. Dear Heavenly help us to fully grasp to realize we can not out forgive you. And we can not hold a grudge against our neighbor. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
