| New Series: Consequence of Sin and Forgiveness: Lesson 6: The Continual Fall 1/04/2014 by turtle 2 Samuel 15:1-6 KJV (1) And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. (2) And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. (3) And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. (4) Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! (5) And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him. (6) And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. The original fall begins with the first generation and continues into the second generation of people. How often we fail to recognize the fall of man in our time. The original sin of influence in David life was no doubt Bathesheba, and Absalom mother was another. He desired to rule when he heard he was in line for the throne. Absalom began his plot on winning the hearts of Israel. Bathesheba father would influence both David and Absalom as an oracle, or law giver, yet this part is not told yet. Here we see the devices of Absalom to make things right for those who were in need of justice and if they called on him he fix the problem. With this ability to fix the issue of Israel, he gained power. He gain prestige. The desire for power and the ability to gain it is not hard, it is the fact it was the will of God for Absalom to be king and to overthrow his father. It was for the purpose that Absalom would defile the throne. Absalom was jealous, power easily gained. This is the trouble of humanity often we follow after the one that will do what needs doing only to find the person with that political power not to be worthy of the authority. Hitler gain power and prestige only to destroy Jewish people, to hate those he did not deem worthy to live. He destroyed millions of lives because he could. When you allow someone with that much influence to rule your life, evil begins. Our nation and nation of the world is influence by much technology and ability to quickly influence people by the masses with good speech. Yet people want action and when someone can give it, it puts leaders into office and some in place that should not be. As our nation changes and develops and works with many nation striving in speech for peace, and human rights, what rights are being taken from us are often overlooked. However even bad power knows how to butter there bread to win. The devil will have a certain amount of power till the end of time. God allows the devil to rise up only to tear his power away from him. Yet God even speaks what the devil will be allowed to do. So remember Absalom rising for a purpose but would be short lived. Sin is that way, it is allowed for a time, but it going to be destroyed. Forgiveness is for all that repent, justice of the devil is not justice. Follow the ways of God and you will do will, follow the path of unrighteous to gain power and wealth that all you gain, but you loose the gift of eternal life with Christ and God. You loose by following after sin even though it gets you want you want. Choose godliness over evil and you win every time. Absalom had a problem God was fixing to solve and it would also lead to punishment of David for the killing of Bathesheba husband. Dear Heavenly Father our sins be as scarlet and yet you make us white as snow and our duty is to follow after you in righteousness, remembering when the devil rises he will fall. In Jesus precious name, Amen. http://www.turtle30cshell.com _ |
