17 Days Of God's Giving
by turtle30c
Luke 1:67-80 KJV (67) And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, (68) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, (69) And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; (70) As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: (71) That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; (72) To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; (73) The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, (74) That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, (75) In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. (76) And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; (77) To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, (78) Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, (79) To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. (80) And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
No one would ever want to think of being surrounded by enemies, but if you are a believer in Christ and those around you are in opposition to Christ, then you are surrounded by the enemy. As long as I live, I come to the realization that there are those in the opposition to Christ that claim to be Christians. It is either the lack of surround to the Gospel, sin plaguing a believer, or just down right a wolf in sheep clothing. It never our place to determine the state or heart of another person, or where they are in faith. It our job to only speak as the Lord gives us utterance.
Zacharias gave voice to the joy of his heart for he know that God’ s salvation plan was coming through the life of two little ones. One on the way and one already born, who would be forerunner of the one coming. Knowing God’s light was coming to all future generation, a revival was dawning in Israel and God was no longer turned away from Israel for sin, but was fixing to restore Israel to a right relationship to Him for all that believed.
Faith in God is and always has been the justification of a believer. That never changed. Faith believing we no longer have to sacrifice or endure separation from God because of sin, is not. Until the sacrifice of sin was given yearly, daily or however often needed there was a continual separation from God. A separation that faith alone did not solve. Jesus would be our continual sacrifice for sin. Our justification or remission for sin. Yet it does not and never means we are not called into God’s office for correction, it means we just will not get fired for the mistake made.
If one goes to work one is accountable for their duty while at their station. If one does something wrong on the job to extreme they usually called in and corrected. However in the work force if you do something major it might even cost you your job. Yet God justification through Christ even when you royally mess up, one is still under justified or forgiven before God. However this grace/love of God is not to be abused. God wants to make sure it not abused, by calling us to the altar when we make mistakes. Calling us to the office of correction.
Israel had strayed, yet they were still consider God’s people. God consider them his people that needed to understand that unconditional grace/love He gives to His children. When Christ came, there would no longer be sacrifice for sin, but the understanding of the continual justification through faith. Sin separates us from God no matter if we are justified by grace or not. As long as one is in rebellion, one is going to be corrected by God. It is the repetition of guilt for sin. Yet we are free from sin. Free from sin upon belief in Jesus. Free from the guilt of sin. Why do we need to feel guilty after salvation if we are free from sin. It is the correction process, or sanctification process. God wants to purge all sin out of our daily life. Yet nothing separates us from our final destination with God, because of our justification through Christ. It like playing monopoly and having a get out of jail free card, yet you are still able to squander your money around the board, or make healthy decision of buying and selling property to better your living. Choices we make effect our life style as well as our over all health concerning sin. If you get saved and are a prostitute and continue in that life style, your not less saved, but the consequences for that life style on earth can be deadly to you. God did not save us to continue in sin, He saved us to call us out of sin. He called us out of sin. Children and adults are trapped by their world they live in sometimes. If they get saved, is the trapped removed from their life, only by the grace of God. A person trapped by drug cartel or prostitution might not be able to easily leave it. Yet God grace is sufficient for these people. A child caught in a abusive life, maybe required by adult to do things not of God. Are they less saved, if they believe, no. Hopefully God will also rescue the child out of the situation and if not maybe that child will the demonstration of God’s grace to his parents or guardian, or whoever causing that child harm.
Example of God’s grace in a sinful state would be Naaman. He would still have to bow with his boss in the pagan temple. It was his duty. Yet he would be justified by his faith. Queen Esther a woman of faith, wife of a king, but no doubt having to live not in a purify state with the king. Nothing justifies sin, yet certain factors God overlooks. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery go and sin no more. She had the power not to sin apparently. Yet the woman at the well he only told her, the one she lived with was not her husband. It is never said whether she left her lover. If you have the ability to change your life style you need to for the sake of the cross. If you are convicted allow God to lead you out of your situation. God’s grace is sufficient.
God’s gift of light to the world was dawning to Zacharias, he was seeing the fulfillment of prophecy to Israel. He was seeing the hope of the sacrificial law changing so all people could see the truth of the love of God. God’s gift of the light of Christ may it dawn in your life today.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the gift of the light of Christ coming to all, so they might be saved. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
