24 Days Of God's Gift Giving
by turtle
Luke 1:6-14 KJV (6) And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. (7) And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. (8) And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, (9) According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. (10) And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. (11) And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. (12) And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. (13) But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. (14) And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
God desires to give good gifts to His children. His children is the entire human race. For all are created in the image of God, yet not are all spiritually His children. We are His children spiritually if we obey His Word, if we follow after Jesus upon belief. Zacharias and Elizabeth were righteous people. People fully living for God despite there inability to have children. Zacharias even though his wife was past child bearing years still prayed for a child. It seems unreasonable to ask God for something scientifically impossible, but that what Zacharias did. Maybe he thought often of that story of Sarah and said Lord why not my wife? God looked down and sent an angel to him to say that impossible thing you requested is going to be granted.
God first gave Zacharias vision, by His Spirit of the impossibility and then He granted the impossibility. How often the impossibility is possible. Ask anyone of age, if they ever thought that where they are now they would be presently doing? Most might say never thought it would be like this. Either meeting their expectation or going beyond their expectation. In 1996 I had a cousin ask are you a writer and I said no. However I like to say cousin did you suspect something I did not know. That is the point. Sometimes others see beyond our ability to see. Yet the gift of God is taking that impossible lump of clay and transforming into a worthy vessel for His kingdom.
The vision manifest by a miracle or hard work as little difference. Why because all people have a hope of what they want in five to ten years. However a gift from God is given not just to all people but to fulfill His will in a person’s life. He gave Zacharias hope to continue to pray for a child, even when it was impossible for Elizabeth to have a child. That hope fully realized at the moment of birth of John the Baptist. Yet how Zacharias must of wondered at Gabriel message of good news of a child.
God granting of a gift of impossibility is something God does to demonstrate His power to do so in our lives. Whether it a man trapped in cold weather over an embankment with the odds of being seen zero. And yet someone passing by just happens to look over and see the lights of the vehicle. The answer of prayer of the injure man knowing God saved Him. The gift of God comes, because God desire to grant the desires of His children hearts. One might want it now, but God may be preparing you to receive that gift. Or the timing might not be right. John the Baptist appearing was to be close to the time of Messiah birth. For John the Baptist was to be the forerunner of Christ. The one to preach about the kingdom of heaven being at hand, preparing the way for Jesus to be received. There those on earth that preach about God and there those that preach about the Messiah and their those that preach about the Holy Spirit and yet, each part is necessary in the church world today. God gift to us is always right on time. Yet gift God would give Zacharias and Elizabeth would testify about faith if we wait even when impossible comes.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to continue to ask for the desire of our heart even when the impossible has reached it heights, knowing you can do all things. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
