3 Days of God's Gift Giving

Matthew 2:12-18 KJV
(12) And being warned of God in a dream that they should not
return to Herod, they departed into their own country another
way.
(13) And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the
Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the
young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou
there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child
to destroy him.
(14) When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by
night, and departed into Egypt:
(15) And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out
of Egypt have I called my son.
(16) Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise
men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the
children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof,
from two years old and under, according to the time which he
had diligently enquired of the wise men.
(17) Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the
prophet, saying,
(18) In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and
weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children,
and would not be comforted, because they are not.
God’s warnings are meant to be taken seriously. A non believer
will not believe a warning from God. They will not take heed to a
warning from God. Abraham deception of who Sarah his wife
was to King Abimelech would only allow God to testify to
Abraham of others that feared God. King Abimelech would take
Abraham sister only to be warned by God in a dream that she
was also Abraham wife and not to harm her. Naive ness that
others can not believe in God and worship false gods is brought
to a non believers sight upon hearing the word of God. Their
organizations out there that worship anyone but Jesus. There
groups out there in our world that recognize Jehovah (God) but
not Jesus. We are living in a time Jesus seems to be on the
chopping block of non Christian world. In fact it always has been.
Yet perhaps it is because to believe in Jesus one must lay down
their beliefs in false gods. To believe in God and not to be
Israelite or Moslem, gave you the right to believe in other gods in
scripture some thought. After all these people are mentioned as
God fearing. They believed warnings from God.
As we look at the end of the story in Matthew we get in our
countdown on Day 3 of God’s gift giving man despite religious
beliefs has warnings from God. The wise men after alerting
authorities to the birth of a new king, was warned by God in a
dream to go home a different way. God desires to warn all types
of people even when they are in disobedience to Him. Some
wonder how one can be saved by grace and be living in sin. This
is a good example. God’s love and compassion for mankind is
not prohibited by sin of idolatry or magical arts. God desires to
save all people from destruction. God still warns those in sin that
a day of judgment is coming and they better turn away from sin
and trust in God’s salvation plan and not a salvation plan of
works. Works without faith is dead. Works done to demonstrate
the love we have for our Savior is part of faith.
Had the wise men upon worshipping Jesus found hope that their
world would change for the better. Did they worship with a hope
that God’s grace had just been demonstrated through the birth of
His Son. It is unclear how they viewed this young child spiritually,
but we know they worshipped Him and gave gifts. God’s grace
was demonstrated through the warning given to the wise men.
God’s removes all of our sin through the gift of His Son. It never
justifies sin after coming to belief, but it does justifies a person
before God as a person of faith. Faith being the very thing that
made Abraham a friend of God. The warning to Noah and His
family was enough to cause him to build ark for hundred years. A
warning from God stop sin against Sarah from happening with
King Abimelech. Warning from God through the prophets was
enough to make people repent in some cases not all.
This Christmas will it be a time of receiving the warnings from
God about the time of Christ return, or are you just sitting and
watching baby disasters happen, unbelieving of the final judgment
to come. Are you going to be like the unbelievers in Noah day
pounding on heavens door trying to escape the wrath of God and
find yourself unable to die and only feeling the torment of
unbelief. Scorpions do sting and dogs do bite and the flames of
hell really burns. Receive God salvation plan through belief in
Jesus today.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to see not only the warnings from
you of the end times to come, but to receive it as truth. Enable
the unbeliever to receive Jesus upon receiving of the warnings of
destruction. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
