The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Eleven: by turtle
Working on today’s lesson I am going to continue with the thought of was it taught in the Old Testament shat Jesus taught. I will probably not go through the whole book of Matthew this way. However there is a point to my madness that Jesus never changed God’s rules but was a part of the plan and was since the beginning because He is the word of God that became flesh and is the Lord from heaven. Even when came to gifts to God the rules never changed.
Matthew 6:1-4 KJV (1) Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. (2) Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (3) But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (4) That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
What are alms some might ask. It is old fashion word, not used today. Compassion is another great word for alms. In another words Jesus is saying to show compassion to people. This month I had unexpected gift. Actually several. In fact both gifts were probably more beneficial to my husband then to me. However they were gifts and much appreciated.
Most groups like to brag about what they give. How much they give. Well taxes require it in some cases to report giving of any group. It is to make sure those groups are doing what they say they do. However the government need not brag about a group, for people to know. Word spreads quick when their is charity going around in the name of someone or money is being passed. If people are giving to someone. I knew a lady for years that passed away not so long ago that own her own business. There were a lot of people over the years she helped. She passed away recently. However she gave always from the heart. There is a lot of people out that give because they love others. That is compassion for their fellow man. Not many knew she helped. However on occasion she would get a call asking for help through those working with breast cancer. She helped the women in my local area. She was involved, though few knew it. That is the kind of secrets God speaking about. It not knowing who or how much but filling in the gaps for people that needs a hands up. Church give that way to or are suppose too.
However what does Old Testament say on giving. What is God own example on giving? Does God give to man?
Deuteronomy 10:17-19 KJV (17) For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: (18) He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. (19) Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
God never promised a rose garden, however He gives to all. Meaning he gives even to unbelievers. He gives to them through creation, through strangers, and so forth. How about that child that says no one came and rescued me from abuse, or from evilness in the world. I say God provided, but man failed to do the job that God assigned them too. God does not choose to control His creation, except in his provisions. God used His creation to provide water in the wilderness, manna from heaven, and quail to eat for the Hebrew people in Exodus. God enabled Sarah to conceive. God gave Adam and Eve a coat that was one of His first gifts beside the garden.
Rebekah gave to a total stranger water from the well and not only water for the stranger but water for His camels.
Genesis 24:17-21 KJV (17) And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. (18) And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. (19) And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. (20) And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. (21) And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
Boaz provide for Ruth when she was harvesting barley/wheat.
Ruth 2:11-17 KJV (11) And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. (12) The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. (13) Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens. (14) And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. (15) And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: (16) And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not. (17) So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
Provision never meant you did not have to work for it. It like provision through a company extra work to be taken home. It often helps the employees that are on a tight income. It like overtime for businesses. However are the paid the same as if they worked at the shop. Sometimes and sometimes not. However income is still income to someone needing it. God provision is often through people, however we are not to boast in our giving. God will reward us for it. Ruth had given to her mother in law, and God used Boaz to reward her good deeds.
Did Jesus give, in like manor of the Father. For He did miracles, by healing the blind and provision of food. When we pray for others we ask for God to intercede in a persons life. It is dedication to pray for others. I have known few people that earnestly pray continual for someone, but they do exist. It is something few of us do enough of. However if we give of our time and provide for people that are in need as we are able, then we have done the work God has called each and every person too.
