The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
Lesson Sixty-Five: by turtle

As we continue with Matthew it is only appropriate to mention the CDC the government disease control center and there new fight against walking
zombies. It is a fight against diseases like the plague and other infectious diseases, however there was no stopping Christianity after the dead rose out of
the grave in Matthew and the Holy people of old began to speak. Now in order to go and talk about this resurrection we have to first discuss the
crucifixion and the nails going into Christ hands. We must continue with those things we rather not hear about and that is the suffering of Christ. Why is it
so many close a deaf ear to the misery of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is because no one wants to know the cost in which He paid on the cross for
their sins. However let us continue our journey at the cross.

Matthew 27:33-36 KJV
(33)  And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
(34)  They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
(35)  And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments
among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
(36)  And sitting down they watched him there;

The gall for meat and vinegar for thirst is first displayed in Psalms of David in the sense of abandonment of his friends. Some consider this gall and vinegar
was present to Christ as a type of aid in His death as far as something to relax Him to numb the pain.

Psalms 69:20-21 KJV
(20)  Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found
none.
(21)  They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

David was not the only one to mention this drink though. And in fact it is mentioned in the book of the law in Deuteronomy.

.Deuteronomy 29:16-21 KJV
(16)  (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
(17)  And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
(18)  Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the
gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
(19)  And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the
imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
(20)  The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in
this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
(21)  And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the
law:

Gall and bitter herbs is symbolic of Christ taking our sins tasting our life of guilt of transgression against God. Though Christ knew no sin, he tasted it for
you and for me. Some other verses to help with this point.

Jeremiah 8:14 KJV
(14)  Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to
silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

Something to note is the gall was given also as a test of fidelity in Numbers 5. Basically it was a test of purity of a woman to her husband. Though Christ is
not the bride of God, it is a test of his loyalty to his Father, and because of his payment for the world sin, he is found without honor in the since of the open
shame and reproach of our sin He bore for you and I. Our sin against God is a reproach to God. God created us to obey Him, yet He gave us a choice to
obey or not to obey. Sin is sin in the eyes of God. Yet because of Christ death, when we receive Christ death for our sin, God only sees the purified Lord
of His resurrection.

Now the parting of the garment was tradition of executioners to take whatever the one crucified was wearing and divide among them. It was reaping of the
spoils.

Matthew 27:35 KJV
(35)  And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments
among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Psalms 22:18 KJV
(18)  They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Then they all after Christ was put on the cross sat around and watched to see what would happen.

Matthew 27:36-37 KJV
(36)  And sitting down they watched him there;
(37)  And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Matthew does not contain the story of thief that was saved it is Luke 23. Not everything concerning the cross is displayed in Matthew, but if you take each
of the Gospels and compare you will get a good view of the intire picture of the cross. Matthew is more depicted in some ways then other gospels.

Matthew 27:38-44 KJV
(38)  Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
(39)  And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
(40)  And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
(41)  Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
(42)  He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
(43)  He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
(44)  The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

Then comes the sixth hour of the Christ hanging on the cross.

Matthew 27:45-47 KJV
(45)  Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
(46)  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken
me?
(47)  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

Isaiah 50:3 KJV
(3)  I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Amos 8:9 KJV
(9)  And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

Micah 3:6 KJV
(6)  Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over
the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

Revelation 8:12 KJV
(12)  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third
part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

Revelation 9:1-2 KJV
(1)  And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
(2)  And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by
reason of the smoke of the pit.

Matthew 27:48-53 KJV
(48)  And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
(49)  The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
(50)  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
(51)  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
(52)  And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
(53)  And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Christ gave of his last breath and died as any human would. His Spirit descended into hell to set the captives free.

Ephesians 4:8-10 KJV
(8)  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
(9)  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
(10)  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Revelation 11:13-19 KJV
(13)  And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the
remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
(14)  The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
(15)  And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord,
and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
(16)  And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
(17)  Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and
hast reigned.
(18)  And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto
thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
(19)  And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and
thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

There is much that can be studied about the resurrection of our Lord. Many things people do not understand and many things people do understand about
this period. Yet Christ arose on the third day. And because He arose we too will have victory. The saints are with God that believed of old time and those
that remain here today will either be taken in the rapture of the church or be taken through death.

Matthew 27:54-66 KJV
(54)  Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly,
saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
(55)  And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
(56)  Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
(57)  When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
(58)  He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
(59)  And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
(60)  And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
(61)  And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
(62)  Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
(63)  Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
(64)  Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people,
He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
(65)  Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
(66)  So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
