The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
Lesson Forty-Six: by turtle (Christina Farris)

Today’s lesson has to do with marriage law, but not only the marriage law but the law by which the world lives by verses what God had planned. God
planned for every man and woman to be husband but of one spouse. Yet in some cultures there is more then one spouse or many divorces. People shack
up and live together long before they marry. People join together to make living more comfortable. However it is all in conflict to God’s original plan for
man. Man might try and say then “Lord do not allow temptation” and God will say why did you not yield to my plan. I promised you prosperity if you
would yield to my plan. So God word is clear what His plan is. Man choose disobedience. Let’s look at Old and New Testament, starting with Matthew.
Just read what it says.

Matthew 19:1-10 KJV
(1)  And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
(2)  And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
(3)  The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
(4)  And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
(5)  And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
(6)  Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
(7)  They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
(8)  He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
(9)  And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso
marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
(10)  His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

Genesis 2:22-25 KJV
(22)  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
(23)  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
(24)  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
(25)  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Deuteronomy 24:1-5 KJV
(1)  When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in
her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
(2)  And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
(3)  And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter
husband die, which took her to be his wife;
(4)  Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD:
and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
(5)  When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year,
and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

In today’s society men even remarry woman they divorce. I even heard once where a man felt the need to divorce to go marry his first wife, not knowing
if she would have him. It makes one smirk at the corruption of society and then as reality of the situation was not of God it begins to sadden the heart. We
laugh at situations people get themselves into, yet in reality it such a sad state of affairs. Yet God still loves his children. One has to wonder with this kind
of love that God has for his children how can we not respond. After all Abraham took Sarah handmaiden to be a type of second wife in hope to produce
children that were not the promise ones by God’s original plan. How far we all fall, yet God was still a friend to Abraham. He still love Abraham and
called Him righteous because He had faith. By no means does this mean we should sin, for sin there is consequences when we break the law of God.
God’s laws are for a purpose. God’s plans are for a purpose. What can we do but repent/turn away from sin and live for God. Yet Abraham stayed with
His wife Sarah and cared for Hagar until Hagar sinned against Abraham’s wife Sarah and His son Isaac, then he sent Hagar away with provisions. Yes
society is upside down to God’s original plan but He loves you just the same.

Christ goes on to say something interesting in Matthew. Not all can receive the teaching of marriage and even celibacy, but those who can receive it.

Matthew 19:10-12 KJV
(10)  His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
(11)  But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
(12)  For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and
there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

Do not be ashamed of your sexuality. God did not attend for men and men to marry or woman and woman to marry, or men or woman to have more
then one spouse. However he made some men to be eunuch’s at birth and some did by choice and some did by force, and God still loves them. God
loves the outcast of society. Do you love them?

God said not to refuse the children that desire to come to Him. He not talking about necessarily little kids, but they are not exempt, but about all that will
come like a little child to Him.

Matthew 19:13-15 KJV
(13)  Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
(14)  But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
(15)  And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

We must remember God sees the heart of man. That He loves His people that will seek Him and love others. Yet the story of the rich man is no
exception to you often walks away.

Matthew 19:16-22 KJV
(16)  And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
(17)  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
(18)  He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false
witness,
(19)  Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(20)  The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
(21)  Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and
follow me.
(22)  But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

The rich man God was his possessions. What makes a man righteous. Noah was righteous man in God’s eyes so was Abraham. However it was because
of faith.

Genesis 6:9 KJV
(9)  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Genesis 17:1-2 KJV
(1)  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be
thou perfect.
(2)  And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

Job 1:1 KJV
(1)  There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

The hope is in God through faith in His Word. Jesus declared it who was righteous but a man of faith and one that fear God and shunned evil. However
no one does any of this perfectly that why Christ came to redeem us. All sin and fall short of the glory of God.

Matthew 19:23-30 KJV
(23)  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(24)  And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
(25)  When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
(26)  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
(27)  Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
(28)  And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of
his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
(29)  And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall
receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
(30)  But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

To serve God is not enough, meaning works alone will not save you, but believing will. Will you forsake all those things in your life that separates you
from God. I heard a story where a woman divorced a man because she had call on her life in ministry. I do not encourage this because there so many
ways to serve God, there is so many ways to preach, however if there is abuse that is a reason to divorce. One must examine the entire picture. Realize
to have faith and to serve God one can remain in their situation to do so. There are many ways to preach and teach. However sometimes you have to
remove yourself from the problem if you are being restricted. How will serve God and retain faith is up to the call God has on your life, but God is calling
all to follow Him. Jesus is the way the truth and life. The Spirit of God speaks all truth.
