The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
Lesson Sixty-one: by turtle

Though examination of scripture from Old Testament to New Testament can be fun, it is sometimes difficult. As I look up scripture for today’s lesson I
might not have them all found, but I can rest assured that God and Christ words agree if God says it is so, and if His Son says it is there. One must
remember not all prophesy is a direct quote. If not a direct quote, that means it more like a nugget of truth or application to a fact. There are several in
today’s lesson, yet rest assured if you are not satisfied with the text I provide to do your own examination of the different prophetic books. I myself do
not always agree with another scholar and so the word of God must be examined. Even I am prone to error but God’s word is true. I personally using
KJV because it has stood the test of time, though some consider it ancient. God’s word does not change. Hebrew and Greek and even some Aramaic
is the original test of the Bible, want accuracy learn these ancient languages.

Let us go back and examine that last passage given in last week lesson. It is important to examine all scripture that uses the word prophesy to see if it is
so. God at anytime could of used His angels to prevent the crucifixion. In Scripture God speaks of these angels in the Psalms. However this is not God’
s will at the time, but it is a sweet reminder of God’s ability.

Matthew 26:53-54 KJV
(53)  Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
(54)  But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

Psalms 91:10-12 KJV
(10)  There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
(11)  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
(12)  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Psalms 103:19-22 KJV
(19)  The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
(20)  Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
(21)  Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
(22)  Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Christ would go peacefully to the slaughter, though they came with knives and swords, Christ would go peacefully. He would go like a lamb went for
sacrifice to the temple. He would go willing, though He knew what was coming. Yet He willingly went.

Matthew 26:55-56 KJV
(55)  In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you
teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
(56)  But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Isaiah 53:7 KJV
(7)  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers
is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Jeremiah 11:19 KJV
(19)  But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the
tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

One also has to remember Christ would be rejected by men, including His disciples.

Matthew 26:56 KJV
(56)  But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Isaiah 53:3 KJV
(3)  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and
we esteemed him not.

Isaiah 49:7 KJV
(7)  Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of
rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

False accusers came which were spoken about. Those who condemn Jesus with out cause.

Matthew 26:57-62 KJV
(57)  And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
(58)  But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
(59)  Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
(60)  But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
(61)  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
(62)  And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

Deuteronomy 17:6 KJV
(6)  At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be
put to death.

Deuteronomy 19:15-21 KJV
(15)  One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth
of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
(16)  If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
(17)  Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those
days;
(18)  And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
(19)  Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
(20)  And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
(21)  And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

Daniel 6:4 KJV
(4)  Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault;
forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

Psalms 35:11 KJV
(11)  False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

Then in this passage in Matthew it speaks of the Prophesy of destroying the temple and rebuilding it in three days. This sounds much like what we might
consider a terrorist act.

Matthew 26:60-66 KJV
(60)  But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
(61)  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
(62)  And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
(63)  But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the
Christ, the Son of God.
(64)  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and
coming in the clouds of heaven.
(65)  Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his
blasphemy.
(66)  What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

Christ words of rebuilding the temple was speaking of His body, yet when he spoke the words of Him sitting on the right hand of the Father that was
stating who He was, which the Jewish leaders believed not.

Daniel 7:13-14 KJV
(13)  I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they
brought him near before him.
(14)  And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

This caused the leaders to bet mad, and accuse Christ of blasphemy. They began to strike Jesus because of who He said he was. The word smote
means to slap or to hit.

Matthew 26:65-68 KJV
(65)  Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his
blasphemy.
(66)  What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
(67)  Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
(68)  Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

Isaiah 53:3-4 KJV
(3)  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and
we esteemed him not.
(4)  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Lamentations 3:30 KJV
(30)  He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

Isaiah 50:6 KJV
(6)  I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Right in the middle of all Jesus is going through prophesy of another is coming to pass in Peter’s life. He was question as being a follower of Jesus and
Peter would deny this and then the rooster would crow.

Matthew 26:69-75 KJV
(69)  Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
(70)  But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
(71)  And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
(72)  And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
(73)  And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
(74)  Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
(75)  And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept
bitterly.

These caused much grief to Peter, yet he would not be moved from faith, because of this. He grieved because He knew He had deny Jesus according
to the word of Christ which can found in this same chapter of Matthew 26. How sorrowful Peter felt, but also what must of been going through his mind
as he seen the prophesy of Christ death that had been foretold about to be accomplished and the realization there was nothing he could do to change
the fact, and not perhaps even perceiving all that was taking place. Yet He knew he denied his Lord. Yet Peter knowing Jesus loved him had hope of
the resurrection deep in his heart and would know the forgiveness first hand of His Messiah. Yet would there be forgiveness for the Priest involved, time
will only tell and the result if you are not aware just might surprise you.
