The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Sixteen: by turtle(cf)
November 2010 being the month we are are chapter seven of Matthew, and as we continue on the sermon on the Mount, we continue with petition God. To ask God for something, may seem to some as why should we ask. Does God care about me and my basic needs, much less my desires? Yes God cares about all our needs and all our wants, yet he does not always provide everything we ask. Does what Christ teach contrary to Old Testament and the rest of New Testament. Let me began with this verse. And then go back to Matthew.
1 John 5:14-15 KJV (14) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: (15) And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Matthew 7:7-11 KJV (7) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (8) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (9) Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? (10) Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? (11) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Psalms 34:17-19 KJV (17) The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (18) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
It easy to understand God delivering His people out of trouble. However even that is meet with a condition of obeying God’s word. We know if we ask God for something He will provide according to His will, but what about that gift that has nothing to do with ministry. I once prayed for a boat, sewing machine and a piano when I was about thirteen. Well dad landed up with a boat that needed major repairs, which him and I did together, mom got her machine and sister and me got a piano. After that I seldom ask God for anything. And no one else but God could hear the prayer because I said it silently.
Now I do ask God for health for people, and I do ask God for deliverance in my life, but even I know God’s will must be done despite my wishes in every case. Does God heal amputee by restoration or by providing an artificial leg. What did you ask for, and how did God choose to bless you. Was the prosthetic giving you your life back. It seems unfair to have to have artificial limb. Why not total restoration? Why does God allow people to be disabled. It can be summed up by what Apostle Paul wrote.
2 Corinthians 1:4-8 KJV (4) Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. (5) For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (6) And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. (7) And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. (8) For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
Psalms 86:17 KJV (17) Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
Psalms 40:1-8 KJV (1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. (2) He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. (3) And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (4) Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. (5) Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (6) Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. (7) Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, (8) I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Matthew speaks of asking and it be given to you. That your heavenly Father desires to give you good things. This is true, however what we ask and what we receive might not be exactly what we expected. I was in a situation once, that all I could pray for was strength, and I was seeking physical strength and truth it seemed the more I asked the more God gave me spiritual strength but not physical strength except what I needed at the time. God granted beyond what I asked of Him, yet at the same time limiting the one thing I requested. Sometimes what we ask for is not according to God will in our life. The sewing machine brought extra income, the piano would of been a good tool if I had practiced for ministry. The boat allowed many fun hours with my dad and also worked into his own ministry. How we use what God provides is important. How we receive and make do with what God gives is important. God takes away gifts we do not use and gives it to someone else that can use it. God gives to us what we need before we ask of Him.
As far as handicap people not receiving their healing, God does provide, maybe healing at a later time, called heaven or before. However what is the greater gift the comfort God provides in the mist of a storm in life, or the miracle. The miracle might be a permanent change, but the spiritual growth from tragedy can be a blessing. God desires us to use what He provides in our life to His glory. Are we doing that. Are we taking the lemons that come with living life and turning them into victory. Turning them into lemonade.
Abraham servant asked God's help with searching for bride for Isaac and it was provided. Hannah prayed for a child and she received. God does desire to give us everything we ask, but will we use it for His glory and honor or will we still be the person we were before tragedy struck. God is awesome in His provision, something that happen to us happen to humble us. Start looking for what God desires to teach you about life. The journey with God is one of comfort and love when we trust in Him
