The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Five: by turtle
Where Jesus lived and travel would define if He was really the Messiah or not. These are keys to understanding if Jesus fulfilled prophesy. Prophesy that was already pre recorded for you and me to know Jesus was truly who He said He was. That He is the Son of God and sits at the Father’s right hand. Christ came for the gentiles, and He came for His people as well. However He would shed light to the gentile world. After been born His first stop to the unbelieving community would be Egypt, His next stay would be Galilee. Take a look at Isaiah as well as Matthew 4.
Isaiah 9:1-2 KJV (1) Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. (2) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Matthew 4:12-16 KJV (12) Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; (13) And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: (14) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, (15) The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; (16) The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
This region called Galilee is known as Palestine. It is probably one of the most hot spot in Israel today, because of it economic trade value as well as religious value. However at the time of Jesus it value was based on commerce. It had both mountains, the plains and the sea. Value to a carpenter would been great. First it would have a place to get timber and a place to build. Not only a place to build but a place to ship cravings and furniture made from wood from. One could stay in business for years in a place like this, and Joseph Jesus’ father perhaps seen this value in the course of moving there. However it was a territory of Rome with both Jews and Assyrian inhabitance. Meaning Roman had rules over it, but many Jews and Gentiles of both groups lived there. Christ light would shine there is a young boy playing and helping his earthly father and mother. He would talk to all sorts of people and know perhaps different dialects not because of just who He was but the fact of location of which He would travel in Galilee as a child. Jesus ministry would start in Galilee at the age of 33.
Matthew 4:17-25 KJV (17) From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (18) And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. (19) And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. (20) And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. (21) And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. (22) And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. (23) And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. (24) And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. (25) And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
Jesus first disciples would be called from the sea. Why not to the builders and makers of His day and time. A possible answer is that many would loose money because of desiring a profit from craving idols and things. Jesus ministry was not about money it was about preaching the kingdom of God was at hand and healing the sick and those possessed by demons. His ministry would become popular because of these things. Word would spread all the way to Syria a region in Asia. So we must do a little travel how far Jesus ministry stretch when first starting. From the North to the South. Galilee was important location for spreading the Gospel that the kingdom of God was at hand.
