The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Fifteen: by turtle
Today we continue with the sermon on the mount. It seems like it goes forever, however the length of time that it would take for Jesus to speak this speech would not of taken very long. No doubt the things of the earth and things past would of had value. However Jesus was teaching more then just one group or class of people much like churches are filled with. Each group having their own interest. Much like a politician. If you ever listen to a minister in a large church, he speaks to more then one group of people. Though most can understand what the minister speaks, he often reference things that all can grasp by at least his description. A minister does not have to understand science in the complex nature of it to explain something simple in design. Some things Jesus spoke about was simple philosophy, things common to man. The do not judge verses speak of such a philosophy, however is it spoken in Old Testament as well?
Matthew 7:1-5 KJV (1) Judge not, that ye be not judged. (2) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (4) Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? (5) Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Leviticus 19:15-16 KJV (15) Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. (16) Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
Proverbs 24:23-29 KJV (23) These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment. (24) He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him: (25) But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. (26) Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer. (27) Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house. (28) Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. (29) Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
How often in life is judgment but a moment. We say we would never do this or that or we condemn a just person actions. Or claim you never do something that you seen someone else do but land up doing it yourself. For example if you say you never eat beans and come to a place in your life and have to eat beans. Have you ever said you would not lie and lied. Have you ever said you would not break a promise like your neighbor and had to break the promise. Why is it our judgment of what is wrong with others so often the very things we do. It human nature to be condescending about someone else. Especially if we have the problem ourselves. Do we condemn gossiping and gossip ourselves. Gossiping is speaking a lie and not truth. You can not remove the gossip in someone else life unless you can remove it in your own life first. You can not see how to unless you get rid of the problem yourself. If you ever watch Dr. Phil, he always solving problems. He does case studies, I doubt very seriously he experienced all those problems himself. However he has a solution to almost every family issue. However sometimes doctors are wrong. Meaning they do not always diagnosis the problem correctly, only based on the symptoms visible. Only someone trained can tell there is underlying current of a problem or someone that been there. Some issues are easier to deal with.
When Jesus said do not judge, he was not talking about doctors making decisions based on facts, or lawyers going to court. It was based on relationship of people butting into something they had no business in.
Next group of verses:
Matthew 7:6 KJV (6) Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
King Hezekiah could not help but show his wealth to the people of Babylon, because of this wealth King of Babylon would come to take it. Israel would learn what it meant to cast pearls before swine. Or riches before thieves in time to come. True it was not during Hezekiah reign for disaster to strike but it was coming.
2 Kings 20:13-17 KJV (13) And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. (14) Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon. (15) And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them. (16) And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD. (17) Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
If you show your enemy your wealth, your means they will want to take it from you. If they think they can they will try. Never give to people who will rob you. Never give your heart to those who will wish to destroy it. Jesus taught the lesson Israel learned in one verse. Do not judge what you yourself do. Beware of those who will examine what you are and find you lacking. God knows your heart man does not.
