The Prophecy Revealed In Matthew
|
Lesson Thirty-Four: by turtle
I love the technology of man, yet when you have something written out so well and then accidentally delete it, it can make one mad, especially when you realize you can not retrieve it again and it is lost for good. That why it is important to save things as you go along when typing a document on the computer. That way if you loose something you at least only loose a portion of the item. Faith starts like a document. It starts with one word of God that is received and believed. It is the first step of trusting in God. It matters not if the first word is only the letter A. The document will grow as you add more words to it. Faith in God begins with a mustard seed of faith. The tiniest seed yet when it grows it produce a large tree where things can nest, rest and eat the seeds/fruit it produces. Mustard plant is spoken as a tree in Matthew 13 and makes some scholars note of a variety in part of Arabia that grows as tall as a man on a horse. Which means that mustard seed as the ability to grow into a very huge plant for a herb in a garden. Faith has that same ability to grow huge.
The word of God can also be like yeast in bread making process. When you put a little yeast in bread it begins to rise up and continues to grow. It takes only a little yeast to make a loaf of bread rise. However when it worked through the dough it has become bread seasons with yeast. The word of God when it worked through a person life is like yeast working through dough. You have to work that yeast into the bread and knead it and let it rest. Word of God is meant to be meditated on as well has to bring comfort and rest to the soul to all that believe.
Matthew 13:31-33 KJV (31) Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: (32) Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. (33) Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
In the Old Testament it talks of trees as well.
Ezekiel 17:23-24 KJV (23) In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. (24) And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
Psalms 92:12-14 KJV (12) The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (13) Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. (14) They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
Christ will flourish He is the root of Jesse in the verses in Isaiah.
Isaiah 11:9-16 KJV (9) They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (10) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (11) And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. (12) And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (13) The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. (14) But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. (15) And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. (16) And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
What does it meant o trust in Jesus? Faith in Christ is more then just believing in the cross and the salvation plan of God. It is believing that Christ is the word of God that was prophecy fulfilled and yet to be fulfilled.
Isaiah 53:1-12 KJV (1) Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? (2) For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. (3) He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (7) He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. (8) He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. (9) And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. (10) Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. (11) He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. (12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Christ word is like a tender plant growing up and producing a place of rest. Christ is our example how we should live and how we should produce. However the difference in who Christ is and who we are is different. Though we are adopted by God and joint heirs with Jesus, we are not above God or equal to God in anyway. Jesus was equal because He was the word of God that became flesh. Read John 1 if you have time.
We are trees too and a good tree starts with the word of God. Starts with faith in the word of God which is Jesus and believes in the one that sent Him to us. Christian with faith often have people around them that find comfort in their faith. Trust them because of their faith, however these ministers can not save you only bring you to the one that can which is Christ. Christ is the fruit tree you want to eat from. Other wise you are cut down like Assyrians tree was. The Assyrian tree exalted itself above God just like Satan did before he fell.
Ezekiel 31:3-11 KJV (3) Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. (4) The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. (5) Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. (6) All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. (7) Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters. (8) The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. (9) I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him. (10) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; (11) I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
What about leaven is it talked about in Old Testament.
Leviticus 23:17 KJV (17) Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
The first fruit you offer God is faith. It that point that word come to be light in your life and you offer yourself to God, in surrender to His will in your life. When one gets saved and goes to the altar it not about giving yourself to a church but to God. God will then plant you and use you where He needs you. Most connect salvation with joining an organization and that is not true you join the body of Christ no matter where Christ people are you part of the fellowship with God’s people. Now just because God says you part of His family does not mean everyone will agree with that interpretation, each church as it views on membership and joining with them, but most will allow you to fellowship with them. In other words worship God with them.
Parables were how Christ spoke and how old time prophets spoke as well. It speaks of truth of God.
Matthew 13:34-35 KJV (34) All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: (35) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
This prophesy is found in the book of Psalms. One of the singers sang about parables that God spoke. It was speaking of parables the Messiah would speak as well.
Psalms 78:1-3 KJV (1) Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. (2) I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: (3) Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
A minister is not going to tell you necessarily what you want to here but the truth. Speaking in parables is not so harsh to the soul. It speaks truth and those that understand will receive the truth behind those words. It like speaking about word growing into a document on a computer is about growth of faith in God into a tree where people can read and receive spiritual truth. However the document it self can not save anyone but Christ the message in the document can. It like a minister preaching He can not save a soul but he can speak the words of life so that a person can get saved.
Christ however is the fruit tree that any can eat from and live.
John 15:1-10 KJV (1) I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (3) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. (4) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (8) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. (9) As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. (10) If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Christ in the next parable is asked to explain the parable of the tares, however I want to back up first and look at what Song of Solomon said about Christ and His bride.
Song of Solomon 2:1-4 KJV (1) I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. (2) As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. (3) As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. (4) He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
Christ is the rose of Sharon and the lily here is the bride of Christ and she is among many others but there is only one bride. When we look at Abraham there were two offspring. One was legitimate heir and the other illegitimate. Only the true heir had the right to Abraham fortune though the other would be made a great nation. However when Christ came the Word came the heir was given to also the illegitimate child. The child was graft in because of faith in God. Faith in the one that God sent to be the Savior of the world. However belief in Christ took place even before the Messiah ever came. God never left anyone out that believed in Him. Now with this said one has to take a look at the tares and what God is going to do to those of unbelief.
Matthew 13:36-42 KJV (36) Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. (37) He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; (39) The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (40) As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. (41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; (42) And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
This is self explanatory but was hell mentioned in the Old Testament and consequences for sin.
Joel 3:11-13 KJV (11) Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. (12) Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. (13) Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
Outcome of Sodom and Gomorrah because of evilness is a reprehensive of what yet to come.
Genesis 13:13 KJV (13) But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
Genesis 19:24-26 KJV (24) Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; (25) And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. (26) But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
There is physical judgment and a physical spiritual judgment coming to the world. One that many believe is taking place sooner then later. What nation in the world does not require judgment or does not deserve God’s wrath. However every nation that seeks God will receive hope everlasting of spiritual security with God. Destruction today is only example of what the eternal flame to come will be like if we do not repent. I mean this globally, not just nationally or individually, but both apply.
Revelation 19:11-20:15 KJV (11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; (18) That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (19) And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. (20) And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (21) And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. (1) And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. (2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, (3) And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. (4) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (5) But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. (6) Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (7) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, (8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. (9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
We have choice to be part of the devil or be part of Christ. If we are part of Christ we will show love to all people whether believers or not believers to help draw them to God and His Son and the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in this. When devastation comes we can show love or hate. Hopefully we will choose to love and to aid those in need.
Matthew 13:43 KJV (43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
As many wipe away the tears of the hurting in time of devastation, so will Christ be the one to wipe away our tears when He returns both spiritually and physically. Our sorrow and grief will be turned to joy.
Revelation 21:2-8 KJV (2) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (6) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Our hope is in God and His Word(Jesus Christ). Without that hope we will never have the promise of life eternal.
